CHANCE ME (and advice)

I am applying to UCI, Chapman, USC, and UCLA as a psychology major. Although for UCLA I might apply as a sociology major, because their psychology is very competitive and impacted.

Anyways, I have about 2 semesters left at my CC, and I will have all my GE and Major requirements, pre-reqs, etc. GPA is currently a 3.75–if I maintain all As it will be around a 3.9. I don’t have many “excellent” ECs though; besides that I nannied/babysat regularly throughout high school, played full-time club soccer, volunteered here and there, joined a club or 2 in CC, and currently working at a retail job. What are my chances of getting into these schools? Which do you think is the best/worst/etc? Should I even waste my time and money for the last courses for UCLA or USC? A dream of mine has always been going to USC or UCLA, should I prepare myself now?

You need to follow your dream and strive to reach it! Do not quit. If you raise your GPA to 3.9, I think at least one of the two (USC/UCLA) will admit you, if not both!

You should keep your expectations in check, because few applicants get into either UCLA or USC. However your profile is very good. The only thing you could try to do is contact professors at your CC and see if any might want a research assistant, which would certainly show how serious you are about your future major. Other than that, you’re ideally positioned to achieve your dream. Remember that it’s not a given of course but do apply. Finally, why not UCSD?
