I haven’t taken any SAT subject tests, nor do I plan to. Thank you!

It looks like you have great chances at UCSD and a little lesser so at UCLA (think 70% and 60%).Your scores and you UW UC GPA are awesome, as are your extracurriculars. Columbia is a reach for everyone, but I think you have better odds than most!

It’s tough to evaluate your chances without knowing your intended major, but what you have here looks really solid.

Keep up the hard work!

I would like to go into molecular, cell, and developmental biology for UCLA, bioengineering or physiology and neuroscience for UCSD, and biomedical sciences for Columbia if that helps. Thank you for your response!

UCLA’s bio department is pretty full from what I’ve heard. It might decrease chances a little but not drastically. Your stats still look great there. I’m looking at the same majors so I feel the struggle!

Btw: bio major to bio major, check out Occidental. It’s a good safety in CA with interesting classes and really good merit scholarships. Not an I-would-never-attend-here safety.

I think I read somewhere that UC’s do not admit by major, except for engineering/compsci. That would be good news if it’s true! But I may be wrong… It’s worth a google.

SAT scores look OK for UCSD/UCLA but remember that Biology is an impacted major for most UCs and you could easily be denied for those schools. I would suggest UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara as low matches as both schools have good Biology programs and are ranked higher overall than UCSD. Davis might be another good UC to consider.

For Columbia 1490 on SAT 1 is kind of low so it might be advisable to try for 1500+. I would recommend taking SAT Subject tests if you are planning to apply there.

The ECs are somewhat ordinary for an Ivy League school so if you can do something this summer like an internship or research, that would help your application.
