Any input on what can I do to improve would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Based on stats of admitted students, you are an extremely well qualified applicant. Even though college admissions are a crap shoot these days, I would still estimate that you have a 75-80% chance of admission, at least, which is pretty much as high as it gets. Best of luck!

UCLA is a match for you. Great extracurriculars, especially “Charitable hearts”. Your grades are par as well.

Match or maybe even qualified enough to be a Regents Candidate.

Chance back?

Thanks everyone for the input!

Does anyone know how much emphasis UCLA places on essays? Would those be a make-it-break it component?

Essays are very important to UCLA. I’m sure you’ll make it with average essays though. My friend got in with “great” essays, 2150 SAT and few ECs.
Chance back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1672761-chance-me-for-stanford-university.html

Just chanced you back!

Anyone else have any input? I’m also considering Claremont McKenna, Scripps, and Pitzer, but will need significant merit scholarships (basically full-tuition or close to it) to be able to attend.

I would say you are a VERY strong candidate for UCLA. Having said that, biochemistry is an impacted major so weird things can happen. Definitely focus on your essays, UCLA values those a lot, and keep running with your EC’s.
