You’re going to get in at all of the University of Californias. Given your (percieved) lack of extra-curricular involvement though, I don’t see many Ivies after you except for maybe Penn CAS and SEAS and Cornell.

Instead of going after a lot of different activities or activities that just seem good, take something up that you care about. Like a cause. Follow the rabbit hole as deeply as you can go and just put yourself out there to see where opportunities take you.

I see from your ECs you are into medicine? It is so hard to make yourself stand out given that medicine is a saturated field…but that’s why you can diversify your portfolio. Instead of just volunteering at a hospital, start your own health initiative. Do research. Teach a class on biology. Write an opinion editorial to a newsletter on the ACA. Discover the implications of medicine, not just medicine itself.

I think for the high Ivies, it’s def. reaches, and for low Ivies, it’s low reaches/high matches. For UCs (I live in California) so I think your chances for them are really high! If you wanna get into Ivies, you have to have something that stands out, not only grades, so I agree with making your ECs more spectacular and your essays stand out! When did you come to America? I am an immigrant too haha

of course you have a chance. it’s just that the colleges look at applicants on a national scale; after all there are thousands of high schools in the US

i usually think of the really top colleges as a reach for the average applicant, then low reach if their stats are on par (or above) and they have really good credentials

still, your school related ECs are not that unique although making AIME twice is impressive if you did reasonably well (obv. i’m biased cause i’m a math person) if you did some other math stuff outside of school that would probably be awesome :D

UCB, UCLA - high match/low reach
most Ivies - low-mid reach
UCD, UCSD - low match
UCRiverside - safety

by the way, how do they UCs weight? and what is your 3rd weighted?

Well you’ve certainly demonstrated your ability to complete any of their courseloads, assuming your senior year goes well. Your ec’s are good, and creating the science club is a huge plus.

UC schools: match, safety (Berkeley maybe a really low reach)
Ivies: definitely a chance, especially with Cornell, low reach
