AP’s taken: Chinese (5), Computer Science (5) <— My only two B’s were from this notoriously difficult class in my school (which wasn’t smart of me to take considering I’m not applying to be a CS major…), Calculus BC (5 & 5 on AB subscore), US History (5)
Senior Courses- AP Gov, AP Stats, AP Bio, regular Economics, 3D design, will self study AP Psych next semester

Major Awards (USAMO, intel, etc…): no major awards
-AP Scholar with Honor
-National Merit Commended Scholar
-Rotary Youth Leadership Award (1/5 five students chosen to attend a five day leadership camp)
-NYCDA Dance Convention runner up to top scholarship offered
-Nuvo Dance Convention top scholarship

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (Leadership in parentheses)
-Pre-professional Dance company 9, 10, 11: spent over 20 hours a week in the studio + 12 hour day rehearsals on weekends; serious enough to have originally planned to become a dance major but obviously not anymore
-Interact (Project Chair) 11, 12: Ran the school’s club along with working in the Interact district
-Book Club (Events coordinator) 11, 12: Coordinated volunteer events at school library & helped organized book and supply drives for low income elementary schools
-Chinese School Teacher’s Assistant 11, 12: Teaching elementary school kids how to speak, read, and write in Chinese once a week
-Assistant Dance Instructor 10, 11: Helped demonstrate alongside lead instructor in classes for aged 10 and below

Job Experience:
-Camp Galileo Summer Intern (summer before senior year): Worked at this pretty well known innovation camp for kids
-Private tutor 11, 12: 3 high schoolers in Alg 2/Trig, Physics and 1 elementary student in math/writing

Volunteering:
-Outdoor Camp Cabin Leader 11,12: Spent 5 overnight days supervising a group of fifth graders
-Orientation leader 10, 11, 12: Helps freshmen adjust to the school throughout the year
-California Scholarship Federation member 10, 11, 12
-National Chinese Honor society member 11, 12
-Performed at many local charity, community, and cultural events alongside my dance company 9, 10, 11

Teacher Recommendations: Unfortunately just one. Literature teacher who I am relatively comfortable with, I provided him with a lot of material and he’s a great writer so it should be good.
Extra Recs: N/A
Counselor Rec: I go to a large public school, so can’t expect anything too good. But again, provided a lot of material to write about and had good interview.
Interviews: N/A

Essays:
-UCs were good, very general topics (dance, Interact, cabin leader, and love of history), but worded well and edited a lot so it flows nicely but isn’t dry, also reflects a lot of my commitments and personality
-Common App wasn’t great… talked a lot of my role in helping raise money to stop human trafficking for an Interact project but not too much of how it affected me.

Other:
State: CA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Asian
Sex: Female
Income Bracket: 90,000-95,000; dad was unemployed from essentially when I was born until last year
Hooks: Not much

Again, no mean comments please I just really want to know my chances! If you want some feedback in return I’d be happy to help

youre a competitve applicant for all of your schools. good luck!

There is no way to truly predict for such competitive schools, but I think you stand a fair chance at acceptances to all schools listed.

I think you have a good chance at all the schools listed. You shouldn’t be too worried about NEU/NYU/SB/Irvine/Davis, but I would be more worried about USC, UMich, Berkeley, and LA. I still think you have a very good chance at those schools as well though

I think you’ll get into san diego, irvine, santa barbara, davis. UCLA and berkeley seem like 50/50…Your GPA and SAT scores are similar to mine, and I’m not worrying about Berkeley, so neither should you
