I would, but I dont remember 100% so take it with a grain of salt.
I mean, hes my friends bro, and I studied with him. He took 5-8 aps and had a decent gpa and above average SAT scores. But he did have a passion for Stem. I dont know his EC’s but I know he got in due to his essays. Either that or pure luck. I know saying that his essays were great doesnt help you, but know that your STEM ecs shouldnt be wasted. Reach high and if you’re up for it, all schools you want to go to will be good for you. SLO is awesome, for a guy like me, with decent grades and no STEM Ec’s.
Also, in your essays, include stuff about the school youre writing to. For me Purdue app, Im going to include recent innovations Purdue graduates did.
I think you are in good shape! Only thing I would reconsider (since you are still a junior and have more time to apply to colleges) take the SAT Physics again and try to get a higher score. No one would say that 750 is a low score, but engineering schools like to have people who are strong in physics, and having a really high SAT Physics score would help you out there. This is important because you are applying to some of the nation’s most competitive schools whose applicants have stellar scores just like you do.
Also, try to make your essays stand-out. Applicants to the schools you chose automatically do have good numbers on their files. So, your essays can really make you look unique. Good Luck!
@CHCollege123 Thanks, I will certainly consider retaking physics. When you say good shape, do you mean for all of the schools, or just some of them. Also what do you think on top tier schools I didn’t mention (like MIT$
Top tier schools like MIT are very competitive schools. So, one can say that they are hard to get in for everyone. But, as I said, if you can set yourself apart by having unique essays, your chances of getting in will go up.
I think that the schools you are applying to are great, however, they do have kids who have high gpas and sat/act but get turned away. On the other hand, your extracurriculars seem to suggest a passion or interest in that area, which is a good focus for an essay or something. Do you do anything that isn’t related to robotics/engineering? Make sure to list all your awards no matter the recognition or size. I think that the UCs, CMU, UVA, Cal Poly SLO are not too far away from you, and you have good chances of admission, but with Stanford, Cornell, Duke it’ll be a bit difficult and you’ll have to try and set yourself apart from the other privileged white males. Overall great stats, mine arent as good.
Good ECs! But the GPA won’t be ignored. However, you seem to have a centralized theme throughout your application which is SUPER important. Good chances overall.
