Bump?

Hi,

UF considers M+CR+W for SAT, so we’ll need to know your score (or what you think your score will be).

UF does not consider AP test scores.

UF uses holistic admissions; 50% is based on GPA (most important), class rigor and test scores (least important of the three). The other 50% is based on ECs, leadership, volunteer service, work, etc. The essay is also important at UF, so spend some time on it!

Your GPA seems fine for UF (a match). Your EC’s seem fine. With a decent SAT score your a match, though keep in mind that with UF’s holistic admissions, it’s hard to make much of a prediction.

Good Luck!!

@Gator88 Thank you!!!

Bump

I’ll jump in with an opinion and comparison to my son, who just entered as a freshman.
GPA looks good
Class rank seems average for UF, my son was top 5%.
Can’t recall his SAT but he had a 31 ACT.
You’re light on AP’s. My son had 14.
Similar EC’s
Volunteer hours seem light. Isn’t 100 the minimum for Bright Futures?

Not trying to be critical in comparing to my son, but letting you know for reference. He did not get Honors at UF. He was accepted for the Fall.

He was offered Honors and scholarships everywhere else. Some of his classmates were accepted with lower numbers, many from his school for the Summer term. But they’re Gators either way.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Well I couldn’t take any AP’s freshman or sophomore year, and most of my classmates took one or no AP’s junior year (small, Catholic school). I took 3 senior year when I went to public school. So should I be okay regarding AP’s?

Yeah my volunteer hours are light and there’s no excuse for that other than laziness. & for the longest time I was dead set on going to an out of state school and thought that bright futures wouldn’t apply to me. Well.

Nothing I can do about it now! Lol except volunteer during my gap year, but that won’t do anything for bright futures. I’d just do it for admissions purposes. Is it worth it or should I just stick with my job?

Not sure about the volunteer hours. And for the AP’s, I understand. I always heard the question is, did you take the most challenging course load your school offered?. I think you can answer that yes. And did you continue to challenge yourself all four years. My sons counselor was very good and she always told them not to slack off senior year. Good schools want to see continuous rigor. Don’t discount the essay either. I never thought much of it but I think it is getting more attention at UF these days.

UF reads the essay only if you pass the grade/test criteria. They have too many applications to deal with. Its a numbers game!!! They look at the strength of your High school as well. They know all the good/better high schools in Florida. You will need at least a 1250 on the SAT, or at least that what it seems.
