Hey guys I was wondering if you guys could chance me for Michigan

Out of state
3.63 UW 4.1W
33 ACT
700 Math 2, 740 Chem

Member of several clubs including animal club, chemistry club, physics club
Member of NHS

Teacher at an Islamic Sunday School
I have volunteered once a month at a homeless shelter since ninth grade
I was a camp counselor at an Islamic summer camp

GPA is a bit low. What is your intended major?

Something in biological sciences @billcsho

Instead of asking us, you really need to check with your counselor how students with your profile from your school have done in the past.

bigred1985. Why are you so sure he/she is in?

OOS with GPA 3.63 ACT 33 applying to LSA would be a low reach for you. Your ACT is at the 75% while your GPA is quite a bit below the admission average of 3.85. However, there is no standard in GPA. So 3.63 with your course rigor at your school may still be fine.

At this point, even 4.0 students with strong standardized test scores should consider Michigan a target. There are no safeties. The number of applicants I have known in Dubai with perfect academic credentials that have been rejected in recent years is alarming. Students who were admitted into other peer institutions suchs as Cal, Columbia, Cornell, Georgetown, Northwestern and Penn, yet rejected at Michigan.

I agree with billscho, the OP’s curriculum and school grading structure may be as such that his 3.6 GPA is high enough. However, generally speaking, students admitted into Michigan generally have unweighed GPAs in the 3.8-4.0 range.

Thank you all! I’ve taken 11 AP classes if that makes a difference (World history, calc ab, calc bc, Chem, physics c, microeconomics, Lang, lit, bio, gov, environmental science)

I think you’ll have a decent chance! You should have taken SAT II bio seeing as you’re a bio major. It would just make more sense, but that’s just me. I think you’re going to have a harder time with that 3.6 GPA. Do you have any leadership positions? Because being a member of a club doesn’t mean anything.

Chance back? Thanks
