Chance me for University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (College of Engineering)?

This isn’t your average “chance me” thread. I’m currently a senior and I’m thinking of doing a gap year, working full-time and making some money and re-applying to colleges. I didn’t apply to Michigan last year but am planning to this upcoming fall. Here are my stats:

(planning on majoring in Comp Sci) Also, my math/science scores aren’t very high but I display a lot of interest in technology/engineering, attend hackathons and took AP Physics B and did very well in that course.

ACT: 33 (35 English, 31 Math, 34 Reading, 34 Science, 31 Writing)
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.6 by the end of senior year (all honors and AP courses, competitive magnet high school, school doesn’t do weighted or ranks)
AP: Chinese (5), US Gov & Politics (5), Stats (3), English Lang, Physics 2, Art History, thinking of self-studying for AP Calc AB and taking it during my year off
IB: School does not offer
Senior Year Course Load: AP English Lang, AP Physics 2, AP Art History, Sociology Dual Enrollment, Calc Honors, Cyber Security Honors, Senior internship, some art courses

Subjective:
Extracurriculars: National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society (Chapter creator and President), National Math Honor Society, Chinese National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Green Dot (President), Future Business Leaders of America (Vice-President), Gay-Straight Alliance (Historian), NYU Future Image makers, Young Women’s Leadership Council (councilwoman), skiing for fun (10 years)
Volunteer/Community service/work experience: One-on-one mentor to children with disabilities at a camp for disabled children, Cultural crafts teacher at a local Sunday school, Marketing intern at Penguin Random House (publishing house), Media intern at New York Stock Exchange, Campaign intern for Andrew Cuomo (NY State Governor/Junior year), thinking of getting a job at the movies during my year off?? (not sure yet)
Summer Activities: mostly travelling (Bahamas, Bermuda, Japan, China, Australia, Canada, since high school started), NYSE internship and University of Notre Dame Leadership Seminars
Recommendations: 100000/10 for one teacher (we’re really close and she knows me well outside of school), maybe 8/10 (one of her best students but relatively quiet in her class, didn’t know her too well outside of class) for the other and 9 or 10/10 for counselor rec (knows a lot about my family life, I paint her stuff all the time and she likes me)
Awards/Honors: multiple art awards (regional and national), Questbridge Match Finalist, Questbridge College Prep Scholar, American Red Cross High School Leadership Award, The President’s Volunteer Service Award (gold), artwork displayed at the US Capitol Building and NYC art galleries

Other
State: New Jersey
School Type: Public/Magnet
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Female

Will being female help me get into engineering schools? This round, I applied to the general arts/sciences schools and film at USC… if I apply for comp sci this time, will there be a higher likelihood of me getting in?

Also, I plan on continuing my service at the camp for children with disabilities during my time off. However, I am unsure of what some good places for me to work on weekdays are (so that it will display my interest in comp sci)… suggestions?

Thanks, y’all!

If you guys can, chance me for USC Viterbi and Notre Dame’s CoE too?

Yes, it is your average chance me thread. I’ve moved it to the Chances forum where it should have been

A round about way for you to get into ND CoE is to apply to St Mary’s specifically for Engineering. St Mary’s students take their engineering classes at ND but it’s easier to get into St Mary’s than ND. Ultimately, you get a degree from both, with CS from St Mary’s and Engineering from Notre Dame. Your odds of admission there are excellent.

Some questions: if you’re lower income, how were you able to afford so much travelling? Relatives? Raising funds?

USC and Michigan are reaches for everyone, but if you already applied your odds decrease by a lot since universities typically don’t admit later students they didn’t admit before.

@MYOS1634 My parents are very frugal with handling money during the year and they have some money saved up from years ago, when they used to make more money.

Also, thank you for the suggestion about applying to St. Mary’s! I’ll look into their dual program with ND!

Last thing, I didn’t apply to Michigan last year but I’m hoping that this year, I will be able to make a good enough impression on the admissions counselors there so that I can attend their CoE!
