University of Michigan Ann Arbor, and a few other colleges

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could chance me for a couple of colleges.
University of Michigan Ann Arbor.
Georgia Tech.
Carnegie Mellon.
University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
Carleton College.
University of Wisconsin, Madison.
UCLA
UC Berkeley
Boston University
Tufts College
Emory

SAT - 2260 (studying for 2350 by end of junior year)
ACT - 34
GPA - 3.75/4.0 UW (I'll explain later)
Ethnicity: Indian Subcontinent
Gender: Male

AP Tests Completed:
AP Calc AB (5)
AP Calc BC (5)
AP Microeconomics (4)
AP Computer Science (4)
AP Statistics (4)

AP Tests in progress:
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Physics B
AP Physics C
AP Physics C - E&M

AP Psychology
AP Macroeconomics

AP Tests (and classes) for senior year:
AP European History
AP US History
AP World History

Senior Year projected classes:
At High School:
AP Lit

At University (senior year PSEO) :
Multivariate Calculus
Elementary Partial Differential Equations 1
Elementary Partial Differential Equations 2
Differential Geometry
Ordinary Differential Equations
ThermoChemistry
QuantumChemistr (Both are P-Chemistry)

ECs: Part of Science Olympiad. Part of Physics Club. Tutor in Calculus, Chemistry, and other sciences and maths (volunteering).

Research:
Carleton Summer Science 10th grade summer
I have applied to a few research programs for my 11th grade summer.

Also part of UMTYMP mathematics program at University of Minnesota.

So. I have another question upon this.
Will colleges look down upon my poor GPA? Or will they understand that I am taking all of the toughest classes offered at both my school and the nearby university at the same time and look over any mediocre grades that I have?

Upon that, how much do extra curriculars count?
I am planning on joining the speech team in my senior year. I will probably be the leader of the physics club in my senior year. And I will definitely be the captain of the Science Olympiad team in my senior year... And I will also probably have at least 150 tutoring volunteer hours by then...

So. Given this. What are my chances for the colleges listed?

It seems you are over-ambitious and suffer in GPA. You do have a very very rigor curriculum, but your GPA may also hurt you at some school. Did you look up the AP credit policy of those schools on your list? It is likely a waste of money on many of those redundant courses. Not only schools may have a limit on AP credit, excessive elective credits may even cost you more as you will need to pay upperclassman tuition much sooner.

Ummm…

I don’t follow…
I have not taken any electives at all, all of my courses are core classes.

And yes, I have looked of the AP Credit policy for most of these schools, and many of them actually do accept most of the courses I have taken…

And
None of the courses are redundant!
I’m taking courses that are accepted by nearly all universities on this list, courses, like PDE’s and P-Chem (Thermo and Quantum), that give me a leg up, above even Graduate Level students, in my desired professions of mathematics and engineering!
Seriously, do you even know what you’re talking about?

AP calc BC and AB are redundant, so as your Physics C. You would not get extra credit on the redundant AP. Most of these credits will be considered electives credit in college except those are required for your major. Additional electives may not do anything. For Umich, you are considered upperclassman once you hit 55 credits and you need to pay a higher tuition rate. So you probably do not want to claim all these AP credits anyway. Or you need to pay $1000 to $2000 more per semester from sophomore or even second semester of freshman.

UMich - High match
GT- Match
Carnegie - Match
UMinn - Safety
Wisconsin - Safety
UCLA - High match
Berkeley - Low reach
Boston - Safety
Tufts - Safety
Emory - Match

Pardon, but Tufts is NOT a safety, as posted above. Certainly no more than Emory, U Mich, etc. Arguably less a match, even, than these, with a %17 admit rate this year.

And I believe there is such a thing as diminishing returns when it comes to taking APs/ tests. Makes you seem a bit single-minded in that department. For admissions purposes, it might be better to take SAT IIs, as these are required tests along with SAT I or ACT.

And as far as AP test redundancy, I know for a fact that D did not take AP Lit test, as she was only able to use her 5 on AP Language toward credit at the school to which she applied ED. So, yes, folks here DO know what they are talking about.

LOL. Do I know what I am talking about?

OP doesn’t seem to think so.

OMG i forgot to post my SAT IIs

Thanks for reminding me gondalineNJ

I got

Chem-800
BioM-800
Physics-800
MathII - 800
Math1 - 800
US History - 760 (I suck at history lol)

Also, I’m planning to take the MCAT later senior year, I’ve taken practice tests from Princeton review and im getting about a 35 average (Verbal, physics, and chemistry are all really easy lol, but i need to bring my score up in biology)

Lol… I guess i do take too many tests…

And also, I am on track to getting my GPA up to about 3.8 by the time college apps season begins, if that is any help at all…

And yes, I understand that calc AB is somewhat redundant. But that, and the other redundant tests, I am taking for my own personal goal of getting AP state senior year. It’s kinda one of those things I just strive to do, even if it wont help at all…

Upon that, i need to take Physics C for the U of M Twin Cities PSEO. As I am in UMTYMP (which you may not know about) i do have a very high chance of getting into PSEO (which is a system to take college classes in school). I need Physics C to take P-Chem…
I also need the calculuses to get more math creds, because I can theoretically get an honorary math minor, and a physics minor in the U of M before I graduate high school…

Again, it may all seem a bit backwards to you, i mean, it seems backwards to me too lol. But it’s just a goal, that I have set my eyes on. It’s a challenge that, now accepted, must be finished for the sake of honor…

Also, I really love math and physics, and am totally fine with taking more tests in those subjects lol…

Wow… I am forgetting sooo much today…

Lol ok, for the UC system, my weighted GPA is a 4.17/4.33, if that changes anything…
My usual weighted GPA, where a higher score is placed upon AP classes, is at the max of 4.0/4.0

Honestly, I am scared that my GPA will kill me. I try really hard on tests, but I have never been able to get my GPA to above a 3.9 UW… Like, my GPA is even below average at U Michigan :(

It’s pretty frustrating to know that one can try as hard as one can, and do alright on all tests, but have his/her chances ruined by the oh-so subjective teachers, most of which, except for science, math, and polisci, all really dislike me…
