Chance me for University of Notre Dame?

What are my chances of getting into Notre Dame? I’m a junior, and I have a 3.92 weighted GPA and a 1520 SAT (790 math, 730 reading). I have 3 solid EC’s, and I attend a Catholic high school (not sure if that’s relevant).

Good news: your SATs are in the top 25% of admitted students.

Question: what is your UW GPA, and will our GC mark that you have taken a ‘most rigorous’ course load?

My UW GPA is 3.6, mainly because of a couple poor grades from freshman year. My course load has been rigorous, with three advanced courses in freshman and senior year, and two advanced classes in sophomore and junior year.

The middle-50% SAT range for ADMITTED students for the “Class of 2021” that applied last year was 1420 - 1540. Your SAT puts you towards the upper end of the middle part of the class, although not quite in the top quartile. (You can get this info right off the “FAQ’s” that are linked on ND’s Undergraduate Admissions website.) For the Class that ended up enrolling last year, the mid-50% SAT range was 1390 - 1530, as per ND’s Admissions Statistics webpage. ND puts a fair amount of weight on standardized test score, so you look competitive with the 1520.

Your weighted GPA of 3.92 could be problematic if there are lots of kids > 4.0 weighted at your school. ND does take the talent level at one’s high school into account, but they want kids in the top-10% of the class, which is why 89% of the entering class last year was in the top-10%. Try to take AP’s if your high school offers them – show ND that you chose the rigorous academic path.

@GeronimoAlpaca Good morning. I’m currently a sophomore in High School and I was quite interested in seeing whether or not if as of right now, I would be on the right track into getting into Notre Dame solely based on my stats and ECs up until this point in time. I would gladly appreciate if I could get some feedback or any potential advice on how to further enhance my application in the coming years of High School. As a side note, I’m planning on majoring in Biochemistry in which I’ll be taking AP Bio Junior year and AP Chem Senior year.

Freshmen Year: 4.43 GPA, 2 Honors classes (Math and English), AP Span Lang, Physics (Only AP, no honors offered yet it technically is at my school since it’s as difficult as AP)

Sophomore Year (As of right now): 4.6 GPA, 2 Honors classes (Math and English), AP World History and AP Spanish Literature (Not able to take a science this year which is agonizing due to my major yet my electives express my passion in certain areas in which they take up my schedule. However, I’ll be taking AP Bio next year and AP Chem Senior year which all works out

As for ECs: Jazz Band, Symphonic Band (1st chair Alto Saxophone), Cross Country (JV), Tennis (Varsity), Chess Club (Vice President), Math Club, Science Olympiad (Gold Team), HYLC (Hispanic Youth Leaders Council), HOSA (Health Occupants of America), Key Club.

Once again, I would gladly appreciate if I could get some feedback. Also, I’m studying rigorously right now and preparing for the SAT for I know that the applicant pool is beyond competitive and I’m aiming (or dreaming I should say) for a 1540+. Thanks!

Side note: (Would the admissions officers be that concerned if I didn’t take a science sophomore year due to my electives yet still did the most rigorous course load possible at my school? And since my major is Biochemistry and as long as I took AP Bio and AP Chem? For Junior and Senior Year? Thanks once again!)

@NotreDame21, bad form to hijack another person’s thread + too soon. Go ahead & start your own - next year, as a Junior, with test scores.

@collegemom3717 I’m so sorry. I apologize. I can’t seem to find out how to start my own thread. Do you happen to know by chance? Once again, my apologies for those who are reading.

Maybe you have to have a certain number of posts to be able to start one of your own. Try leaving a few comments today on different threads and see if the post option becomes available.

@NotreDame21, scroll up this page and you will see an orange block on the right side of page that says “New Discussion” - click on that and you can start a new post.

@suzy100 Thanks! I would gladly appreciate if anyone of you guys’ could give me your opinion on the new thread I will post. (Basically my previous comment)

@austinmshauri OOF. You’re probably right, I have a lot more comments to go to reach that possibility. Especially since I don’t have the orange block up near the right-hand corner. Would anyone of you guys’ be willing to start a thread with a title similar to my topic of discussion? Basically having to deal with those who aspire to get into Notre Dame (which is my dream school)

A more updated one as well, for I know that there are countless threads like that on CC yet they’re all outdated.

@austinmshauri Never mind. I posted a thread :slight_smile:

@austinmshauri The title is “Am I in the right position/track on getting into Notre Dame?”.

@suzy100 The title is obviously stated above
