Hey guys, first off, I'd really like to say thank you for even looking at my thread, and any reasonable responses would be incredibly appreciated. Just dont forget to leave out your supporting references to your comments.
Im really wanting to apply and get into the University of the Pacific's Five Year, or Six Year accelerated dental program, but my stats are literally on the border of what their website requirements are.
The requirements on the website states that we need a 3.7 unweighted Gpa, with your weighted classes not having any influence, and a 31 on your ACT.
Overall, I have about a 3.79 Unweighted GPA , but my weighted GPA is a 4.16; I also have a 32 on the ACT.
I'm in the top public school district in California, and go to a relatively competative high school, so I would say I'm somewhere between top 5-20 percent of my class of 400. I've taken AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP European History, AP Environmental Science, AP Calculus, AP english, Honors Trigonometry, and Honors Physics throughout my high school curriculum.
As far as my extra curriculars go, I have over 100 hours of dental shadowing, over 400 hours of hospital volunteering, an eagle scout, and play club volleyball, not that it really helps lol...
So my question is that due to the fact that the standard requirements are so high on their website, I wasnt sure if my stats fit up with them; my stats balance right on the line. Unfortunately, after hours of trying to do research on my own, people who have asked this question have all significantly higher GPA's and Scores than I do, so i really coudn't compare with them....So that why Im asking you!!
If you, or if you know anyone, who has gone through the UOP's accelerated dental program for either the 5 year or 6 year program, I'd REALLLY appreciate any input on it. How is the program? How tough is it? would you consider it to be more rigorous than a top UC like UCLA or Berkeley?
oh and of course....WHAT ARE MY CHANCES?? haha THANKS
