You have solid academic stats. Also you have some pretty good ec’s, but nothing spectacular. If you could elaborate on your ec’s and your intended major, that might allow us to chance you better. Since you are a member of the Hispanic Honor Society, does that mean you’re Hispanic? That might increase your chances of getting in. Right now I think Penn is a reach for you (as it is for most people). Chance back if you have the time! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1833625-chance-me-for-usc-ucs-cal-poly-etc.html#latest
@stanforduscduke I just consolidated my ec’s. I am a violinist for the Youth Symphony Orchestra in my town. My intended major is either Neuroscience (if Penn offers it) or Biology. The community service club that I started is a medical club, so it aligns with my intended career path (medicine). I also founded a free medical clinic for a local homeless shelter. I am president of this club and my school’s Fight Against Hunger Club and the team manager for my school’s varsity trivia team. I also compete with my school’s math (calculus) team. The Hispanic Honor Society is open for all students in upper-level Spanish classes, so I’m not Hispanic. I’m actually Asian, which I hope is not a disadvantage to me. Penn is definitely a reach school for me and it’s not my top choice college (I have a more reasonable college as my first choice), but it would be awesome if I did get in. Thanks for your help!
I’d have to agree with reply 4; your stats are great, but they could be higher. Your ECs seem very solid and if you’re able to elaborate on them in connection to your major, I’d say you have a pretty good shot. But UPenn is pretty much a reach for anybody.
Your stats are above average. However, nothing jumps out at me. But of course this isn’t the full application! Just make sure that you focus in on your passions on your app to set yourself a part. Make your essays personal, and you elaborate on ECs, and you get recs from people who will write meaningful ones. You have a great chance I think!!
Considering your good number of ECs, and the fact that you are Hispanic as well, your chances would likely be higher than most with good recs and essay.
