Chance me for USC & UCLA please? :)

I feel your frustration when 4.0 UW GPAs seems to be a minimum requirement for possible addmission. However, I’m sure USC has an algorithm to determine which high school may practice grade inflation. My alma mater, a very well regarded east-coast private university, assigns each applicants’ HS a score from 1 to 5, 5 being most rigor course work/low grade inflation.

From reviewing admissions summary reports, numerous student identified “attending most prestigous public HS” received an unflattering HS score of 2!

It’s unfortunate since there are many exceptional students who are eliminiated through this process. But since there are so many appliants each year, admissions office have to devise a method to help normalize disparate HS grading practices; exceptional students end up being “collateral damage”.

I’m a high school senior, and was just admitted into both USC and UCLA. I think that you need to do everything you can to raise your GPA, because unless you have some hooks or something else that will really set you apart, I think your GPA is too low for either school. Or you’ll need to address why your GPA is low in your applications. Good luck!

Your chances of getting in depend on what major you apply for. I’m interested in knowing your weighted GPA. Your unweighted GPA is a bit low. I’m not sure how a 32 on the ACT would translate in SAT score. It’s always safer to be higher though.

I got accepted by USC with a 3.8 UW and a 4.2 W GPA. My SAT superscore was a 2060. However, I applied for a major in Fine Arts, so my portfolio let me get away with my mediocre grades and ECs.
