My Chances for UCLA, USC & American University :)

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone would be willing to tell me what chances I have of getting into UCLA, USC and American University

Academics/Background:
-I'm an international applicant from Mauritius (but i'm an American Citizen), predicted a 40 on the International Baccalaureate (4 subjects at higher level and 2 at standard level - only one that has ever done this at my school)
-i've got 4 languages under my belt (english, french, spanish + creole - native island language)
-ranked 3 out of 355
-SAT subject test scores: french - 800, eng lit- 610 BUT my SAT 1 scores are really really low -1690 (and the worst part i cant take them again! Messed up big time. I know). My superscore comes to a 1730 for the schools above that take the scores in that way.
- Kickass teacher/counsellor recommendations
-i have an unconventional background

Leadership/Awards:
- i'm Head Girl (highest form of leadership available)
-Student council president - 3 years in a row
-Northfields Award - 12th grade - Pupil of the year: most well rounded, leadership, service, academics
- National recognition for Triple Jump at athletic championships
- i have all-rounder achievements and awards,
-3rd nationally for 'Voice of Youth' competition ( I was a 15yr old competing against college kids)

ECs:
-1000+ hours of community service,
-I've been teaching underprivileged children for 2 years,
-i'm president of 3 clubs (sports and academic: Netball, Photography, Amnesty In't, MUN)
-part of 9 clubs (sports + academics)
-Founder of the first official UNESCO Club at my school
-Interned at a human rights/environmental initiative called SPEAK for 2 years and worked on cases that went to the White House.
-Public relations officer for PAWS (Protection of Animal Welfare Society)
-I interned with the Aloha Peace Project based in Hawaii working with promoting peace in american primary school systems.
-Head of Delegation at Model United Nations in Dubai (1st time for my school)
-Sailing + i have a skipper's license

I'm applying/applied for International Relations and Political Sciences! Any help would be really useful! Thank you so much for taking the time to read!

Your ECs are very good. But these colleges heavily consider your exam scores. Your SAT 1 and SAT english scores are really going to hurt you. At this point you have to pray that your HL scores are competitive. The rigor of your HLs matters as well. Are you taking HL Film or HL Math? This stuff matters.

Predicted Grades - My HLs are: History (6), Geography(5), English(6) and French(7) and my SLs are: Environmental Systems and Societies(6), Maths Studies(7). Extended Essay = A Theory of Knowledge = A
(my school is so small and new to IB that we don’t have unconventional subjects - just the basics)
What do you think? Could my HLs save me? Thank you so much for all the help! It means the world to me!

Your predicted HL scores are very good, but it worries me that you took IB Math studies. Is it too late for you to take SAT math 2 or SAT English Lit? Your superscore is just below the 25th percentile of ULCA, but due to your background you should make it. Same applies to AU (this on is realistic). USC is probably not happening.

I think you could get into American University. Its test optional so you won’t have to send your SATs. Other schools allow you to send a few subject tests in place of the SAT…you should look into that. I think your scores are too low for UCLA and USC. But, I know USC loves foreign applicants so maybe they will take a special interest in you. Best of luck!

RecentSAT - Its too late for me to take anything more (I did take the SAT Eng Lit and got a score of 610) Thank you very much for you input.

shk909 - Thanks for the reply!
