I’m applying EA to Michigan and Virginia, and RD to NYU and WashU. What are my chances? I’ve played up my engagement in Judaism and my IB Diploma, as well as my place within the high school as an active student.

Michigan is probably a low reach since you’re OOS.

For WashU SAT could be a bit higher, but the ECs do align with the potential major. I don’t see that many lab sciences taken though and that could be concerning to an adcom. WashU has an active Jewish community and Hillel has a major presence on campus. Right now it’s a reach/low reach.

Did you take APs or is that a typo?

UVA is going to be another reach for OOS.

American, Pitt, and Maryland should be matches. NYU is a high match/low reach. Take out one of Michigan/Virginia and switch it with George Washington-it has a highly rated political science program.

Since you mention Shaker Heights, are you considering Case Western?

Michigan is a reach for you if from OOS. Your GPA and SAT score are both around admission average (which include instate students). Their OOS admission rate is around 20%.

@Hamurtle I took one AP sophomore year and all IBs, which are AP-level, junior and senior year. I will graduate with an IB diploma, and took basically AP all APs but with IB credit. Thanks for the helpful feedback!

Also, my mom is an active alum at U Michigan, went there for BA, MA, MBA, and graduated honor roll with the President’s award. Would this help at all?
