Greetings,

Aside from your SAT score, everything else seems good enough for the two colleges you’re aiming for. If you had taken the SAT again or maybe the ACT, you’d have more chance. Good Luck!

Not with that score

Your standardized test score is holding you back. Way, way, way back. Is there any reason you can’t buckle down, study your butt off, and blow the test out of the water, knowing a potential acceptance to Duke is on the line?

Unless you’re a senior. In that case, a bit late for hand-wringing.

Yeah, ditto to other people. Your test scores are going to kill you at these places. You’ll need to retake it to have a good shot. If you score 1400+, you’re in the realm of possibility, 1450+ gives you alright chances, and 1500+ gives you a strong shot.

Just to let you know, the National Academy of Future Physicians and Scientists and NSHSS is a scam, they send letters and awards to everyone.

^This as well. If they ask for a fee–or anyone, really: people you e-mail to ask for internships, scholarships you apply to, etc.–then they’re not legit and you should stay away.

Don’t list them on your app. They’ll take up valuable space.

What is this? There’s little need to fluff up your resume. I’m assuming you’re not a senior, judging by the fact that all the math competitions listed tend to be a bit more on the rudimentary. Find a few things to commit to; awards to strive for; initiatives to lead. You could probably add another dozen of these irrelevant awards (harsh, but it’s the truth). Best to steer clear. You’re in no rush (I assume).
