If you applied RD and still have a 1200, then I’d say unlikely but not necessarily impossible. A 1200 is pretty far off from the middle 50%, and even though being a minority helps, usually they’ll accept a minority with like a 28/29 on the ACT, and your SAT score is equivalent to a 25. Your GPA is pretty good, but it also depends on what kinds of classes you’ve been taking; if you’ve been really challenging yourself and took like 15 APs then it might be able to outweigh your SAT score. You have good extracurriculars and impressive awards, but they aren’t necessarily going to stand out in comparison to the other competitive applications to Vandy. I’d say it’s a longshot, but not impossible. Good luck!
@Ismgirly thank you for the feedback. I took 6 A.P. Courses out of the 7 my school provides for me. I have took a challenging course especially my senior year since I am taking 3 A.P. Classes and 2 College courses. Hopefully it will over weigh my SAT score.
Yeah just like most of the other people have posted, I would say your entire application looks pretty strong aside from that SAT score. You said you have taken quite a few AP classes, what scores did you get on the tests? That would help give a better opinion.
Great app, strong EC’s; you have a really good chance at Vanderbilt- if you bring that SAT up (1450 range). Either try taking the ACT or taking an SAT prep course with a tutor (I did the latter). Other than that, come up with some meaningful essay topics.
