Chance Me for Wharton or CAS (still undecided)

I realize time is running low, but I'm in the middle of my applications and would appreciate a good 'ol chancing.

Wharton or CAS...I know I can only choose one.

Where would I have a better chance (if either)? Also, could anyone suggest OTHER schools in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic for directions as diverse as business, economics, foreign affairs or architecture.

Thank You.

I mean with anyone, you’d probably have a better shot @ going for CAS before Wharton.

thanks…though not exactly the answer I was looking for

At the very least could you chance me for CAS then?

CAS i’d say you definitely have a good shot. I just don’t see you as a strong Wharton candidate (hate to be blunt, but that’s how i see it…yes FBLA and Speech and Debate help, but your math scores are a bit low, so hopefully you can bring that up).

Of course i have no idea what you wrote about for your essays…and that is also another VERY big deciding factor. Your stats are pretty much there…another thing i need to know, what’s your ethnicity?

edit:
p.s. - i’m not saying math is the only impt thing u need for Wharton, just based on what you showed here, it doesn’t seem like you have TOO much of a “hook” for what they want to see in a Wharton applicant.

If you want, you can PM me with your essays or more details so I can see if you are a better fit for Wharton or not. But I would say that you definitely have a solid chance for CAS.

What does Wharton want for their “hook” and should I just stick with CAS?

I really want to get into Penn period (not that it’s my only school, but I don’t exactly want to throw away the application to my number one choice).

Am I truly lacking for Wharton?

bottom line though is getting into Penn at all…

Thanks in advance.

You have a good shot at getting into Penn CAS in my opinion. You have a decent shot at Wharton too, but, obviously, it is the more competitive of the two.

CAS has a better chance of taking you, you’ll enjoy your undergrad experience more, and you’ll still get the same jobs wharton kids do. Why NOT go to CAS?

Honestly, I think you have a good shot at CAS, whereas that 710 Math IIC will stand out negatively if you’re applying to Wharton. 800’s are a dime a dozen in Wharton, and the type of math you’ll be doing in Wharton classes is a lot harder than anything the IIC throws at you. Otherwise, though, everything looks great – I agree with the others that CAS seems to be a better fit for you. If you get to Penn and find that Wharton is more up your alley, you can always do an internal transfer if your GPA is high enough (3.8+ or so after having taken certain courses like Econ, Math 104, etc).

But, like bagels said, you’ll most likely have more fun in CAS and have just as good a shot at landing the same jobs. Had I known this more intimately as a freshman, I probably wouldn’t have gone through with Wharton (I was initially a pure-CAS student). CAS classes are a lot of fun… Wharton courses can get quite dry unless you’re gung-ho about a lot of that stuff. Just apply to the school that seems most in line with your future interests, and be as honest with yourself as possible.
