Chance me for Yale with terrible ECs?

I'm currently a junior (and also an international student) and my dream school is Yale. I have very good marks (4.0 GPA but I'm in IB) and a 2330 SAT I from sophomore year (Math 730)... I'm planning on taking SAT IIs this year.

My issue is that I am afraid my mediocre ECs will sink me. I am one of those people who is involved in way too many things and I don't really have awards in any of them... These are my ECs:
Basketball, will probably be varsity captain next year
Newspaper editor, will probably be editor-in-chief next year
Head of medical club
varsity rugby
debating and MUN (I'm good but not great sigh)

Looking at these ECs, they look so incredibly generic and lackluster and I'm wondering if I still have a chance for Yale? Could anyone maybe suggest some way to improve this terrible list in the year I still have to make use of?? Thanks!

please help, I’m super anxious haha :(

I dont think you’ll get in because the international pool is so competitive :/

Your leadership positions in your ECs count just as much (if not more) then an award, if you get them that is. Your ECs aren’t bad, but like the previous poster stated, international applicants generally have a more difficult time being admitted. This applies to a lot of US schools. Good luck, though.

Kinda late to be adding more ECs now. But you have a chance. Your stats are great. Write good essays, and come up with a good reason why Yale should admit you.

I actually don’t think it’s too late, you still have a year to add more ECs that really demonstrate passion and devotion. However, it’s impossible to suggest anything without knowing your interests or intended major (and I can’t even guess anything based on your current ECs, because they’re a little too general). But as people have already said, it’s gonna be really difficult to get into Yale as an int’l, no matter how perfect you app is. But with your stats, I’d say it’s worth a shot.

The bad news about your ECs is that they lack focus in a specific area. The good news is you have lots of leadership in them, which is equally important. So I honestly think they’re actually kinda good
