chance me for Yale

I am a junior. I recently visited Yale and I fell in love with it. I was thinking about a couple other schools, but I really want to try Yale first. Please chance me and give me suggestions, including suggesting other match schools. I'll major in some humanity area in college.Right now I'm thinking international relations. But that's subject to change. I'm still trying to figure out. (If you know any schools with good IR program and easier to get in than Yale, please suggest them to me.)

Thanks in advance!!!

Georgetown? George Washington? American?

^^ All of them are pretty top-notch international relations schools.

I would say that Yale is a mid-reach.

Thank you Hawkace. I appreciate your suggestions!!

I think Yale is a reach like it is for most, but you should definitely apply. Georgetown is a great international relations school and you could also look to Berkeley for other great humanities majors. Good luck!

Thanks. c:

Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, CalTech, et al are increasingly referred to as “lottery schools,” because they routinely reject students with impeccable credentials. You should certainly apply. Yale is a rich college, and practices need-blind admissions. If your parents are as committed as you are, I’d encourage you to apply Early Decision. You fell in love with Yale, and their ED acceptance rate is significantly higher than their Regular Decision rate. You have a chance, but Yale is a long-shot for everyone. I would have plans B-Z prepared, therefore, should you receive disappointing news in December. Decide what you particularly loved about Yale, and assemble a list of colleges, in descending order of selectivity, that have similar assets. I have repeated this suggestion over and over to highly-qualified students on CC, but will mention it again: some excellent colleges have non-binding Early Decision options. If you apply to them, along with Yale ED, you can expect some good news should you get bad news from your top choice. Some of them will also notify you of merit scholarships along with the admission decision. This will spare you the need to apply to a lot of additional “match” and “safe” schools, and you can focus on other low-reach and high-match targets as the application deadlines approach. If you are not determined to attend college in the Northeast, Tulane has the non-binding Early Action option, with a free application. I think that Fordham might; BC and Michigan do, also.

Seems like your school puts more priority on academics than mine. Our school average is like a 20 on the ACT lol and our college readiness is like 2%

You definitely have a good chance, like mentioned above though, many of these schools are referred to “lottery schools” so I would recommend applying to 4-5 of your favorite/top schools in your mind. Best of Luck!

thanks Malcod!

Also the fact that your school has AP courses. Mine has none. Feel lucky.
