Chance me for Yale!!!

Please chance me for Yale:

4.0 unweighted GPA, 30 ACT, SAT Reading 800, Math 680, Writing 680. PSAT 215.

I'm homeschooled and thus haven't had the opportunity to take official AP courses. I have done advanced chemistry and I am going into my 2nd year of Calculus.

EC: My passion is piano. I've taken 10 years of lessons and am currently taking lessons with a college professor. I am the choir accompanist at my church. I also help teach the choir new pieces. I am the fill-in pianist at my church and have also played for weddings, funerals, Christmas celebration at homeless shelter, etc. I have attended 4 piano camps and taught piano lessons to people of various ages.

Thanks for your thoughts and help!

High Reach.

It’s going to be tough. You really need to raise your scores a lot. Your SAT isn’t bad but your ACT is way low. I’d work on raising SAT, especially writing. It’s pretty easy to get that score up. You seem like you’re really passionate about piano but unfortunately, it’s not an incredibly unique passion and you don’t have any ECs unrelated to piano or any service which isn’t great. I wish it was different but I think Yale would be a very high reach. But, if you raise your SAT a lot, give it a try.

Don’t get too stuck on the Ivy League. There are so many other great schools with higher acceptance rates like UVA, NYU, UNC, and NYU. Look into them!

Good luck!

I think it’s a high reach. You haven’t taken any ap classes and you don’t have many ecs. As mentioned, try increasing the writing and math sections for the SAT (they’re easier to increase) and try to get 34 for the ACT. Also, work on your essays, they’re really important .

As you probably already know, test scores will play a very heavy role in verifying your GPA. Retake ACT/SAT for sure if you want a chance at Yale.

Tie your passion for piano with an academic subject at Yale and write about it in your essays.

If you break 2300 or 35, and write a stellar essay, I would say you have a good 20-40% chance.
