May have forgotten some information but I’d appreciate any feedback! If you want any more info just comment!
They are all reaches. If you apply early to HYPS they are lower reaches, relatively speaking. If you apply early to MIT, it doesn’t help a whole lot (based on EA vs. RD admit rate…).
Apply to your favorite early, I would say you get in to whichever one you apply early to. You are about as strong as colleges can ask for.
Take Math Subject test, you’ll get an 800 on it but its one of those tests you should just take.
Your awards are pretty amazing. I’d say you have a pretty good chance at all of the schools that you listed. As long as you show that you truly want to go to that school and they like your personality, your chances seem good
You need the Math Subject Test for MIT, idk about the others.
apply early to MIT, that’s your best shot of HYPSM, then Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Stanford (will be toughest as they have a lot of high caliber Asians to choose from). Stanford SCEA has a slightly higher acceptance rate than regular, so you could consider that option if Stanford is your first choice. If you’re majoring in STEM, you’d have to consider MIT so I’d RD them if you get into Stanford early.
How’d you get a 1600 on SAT? Any tips?
I had a couple of prep books that I went through completely. The most essential thing was taking EVERY SINGLE practice test you could find. All of the official College Board ones, all of them from the prep books, and after each test make sure to go over exactly what you got wrong and WHY. Know the test format and types of questions. But practice tests are the best way to get a high score.
Do you even need an answer? You have all the qualifications
You seem too good to be true.
Your resume is very impressive, and will open the door to any of these colleges. Your essays will ensure you get through that door. You have to write to differentiate yourself from many many other like you. You have to ensure you don’t seem like a clone, which often happens to several Asian-American students who also have top scores. In your essays you have to make sure your individuality and uniqueness get through. Brainstorm a list of 15 different things you could write about, and pick the one that you think the least amount of people could have also talked about. Make sure not to talk about your achievements in your essay, but rather to focus on a characteristic unique to you. You seem very interested in science, so perhaps you are a curious person. Talk about how that trait has manifested itself in other areas of your life. If you write essays that make you seem one of a kind and unique, you drastically increase your chances of admission to these schools. You are already in a very good spot, but these essays will determine if you walk through the door that your resume has opened or if the door closes. Good luck!
No, the two 4’s on those AP exams will ruin your chances of acceptance.
Amazing scores, if I may ask, how’d you get a 1600 on SAT? I’m aiming at at as an up and coming Junior.
Practice tests…and more practice tests. every practice test you can get your hands on will be the key to acing it. When scoring, really understand why you got everything wrong and what to do to get it right. Know the test and what they expect, and just keep doing practice tests.
This doesn’t look too legit - why is a senior asking to chance?
I think @ConcernedRabbit said it well. You have the stats, now find a passion and convey that passion as a theme throughout your application while being genuine. Show how that passion will make the world a better place and I think you’ll do well at whatever CHYMPS (Chicago or CalTech, Harvard, Yale, MIT, Princeton or Penn, Stanford) you decide to apply to.
If you rest on just your stats and coast through the rest of the application, you may get in but not likely.
