I’m currently a male sophomore at Haverford. First off, I will say that “chancing” for these schools is hard. They are all excellent schools with rigorous application processes, but will look more at the character of the student as a whole and less at the student as a number. At haverford, I know of kids with SATs in the 600s who got in and kids with straight 800s who were turned away. Your scores, for any of these schools, are not off the charts, but in a good range.

I will say that you (from what I see) “fit” what Haverford (or any other school for that matter) wants to see on application materials with lots of extra curriculars and involvement. The story concerning identity and race on your lacrosse team seems especially interesting.

I’m sure you know this, but Haverford will be more nerdy and rooted in Quaker values (Honor Code, concensus etc.), Washington and Lee has a big Greek system and is quite fratty, Carleton is nerdy, and Vassar is artsy. W&L will probably be the most conservative of the list (politically) with Vassar at the other end and Haverford and Carleton somewhere in the middle. Haverford is close to a major city, Carleton to a medium sized city and the other two are in rural areas.

Though coaches don’t have all that much sway at DIII LACs, they can give you a “boost” if you contact them and show your prowess.
