Help me!
ok my country Jordan, used to provide only the british system in the schools but recently the king opened a new school
called Kings academy and it provides the american system so i recently transferred there in my junior year
but i have a problem now at the bginning of the year i had C's on my report card because i wasnt used to this
system at all and i had difficulties copping with it but recently ive improved alot i have A's with one or 2 B's
and im on the honour list, so what i wanted to ask is that would these C;s at the beggining of the year affect my chances
in getting into a high university (such as stanford) and will it affect my overall GPA when they calculate it
because i really need a 3.5 or higher and im afraid these C's will effect alot especially on my overall Gpa so what can i do, please help !

help please. thank you !

if you are very interested in art (it seems you are), I would look at some different schools.
- im sorry, but your stats don’t look very competitive for a place like stanford (carnegie mellon, perhaps), esp. for an international
- These universities may not have what you are looking for. There are much better places to study art. Don’t think that just because a university has such a great reputation that it is the right fit for you.

I understand how confusing this must be. It’s very difficult in the American system, choosing from among thousands of colleges and universities. Look into some good American art schools.

I don’t know what you need help with bud, it looks like you are doing amazing. If you are truly worried about your grades during the system transfer merely mention that in the the “extraordinary situations” in the common application and back up your claims with hard evidence. Most (I hope) college admissions are not as cold blooded as you think and will not burn your application if you have a C. Keep doing what you love and you will end up in a great school.

thankss i appreciate it
ibfootballer i know what u mean but how do u think i should step up my competition what can i do ? its not because of the reputatuion ofcourse its because im looking for schools that not only provide art but art and design thats why so what do u think ? any tips ? how to become a better competitor ?
and thanks boxmanboxman, i really do appreciate it
any other thoughts/ tips ?
anyone?

anyone tipe ?
thank you

Put some major focus in your essays on your art, dancing, and the transition to the new school. have your school put in some sort of explanation of what they are, how new they are, etcetera.

I would also keep reading CC. stay away from some of the “chances” threads, because as someone unfamiliar with the American college admissions system, it is hard to tell which advice in those is valid. Some people are unnecessarily harsh, critical, and unrealistic. Look at some of the threads about schools, especially art and design schools, as well as some of the essay forums for tips on how to improve your essays (I’m guessing they will be a challenge for you. I can tell your english is not quite fluent/native, shall we say.)
Another suggestion: attach another copy of your essays in arabic. they likely have arabic speakers at some of the major universities you are planning on applying to, and if you’re lucky, some in admissions. writing in your native language may allow you to convey some of the things that you don’t know how to in english, and if you’re lucky, they can have someone pick up those nuances from reading them.

just putting that idea out there, not sure how well that’s gonna work.

ya i know im trying to improve my english so that i can right astonishing essays, ive been reading alot recently and my teachers at school are helping and at the same time im studying for the sat I which is helping me in my vocabulary.
Anyway, thanks alot IBfootballer it really helped and ill try to pace up competition, but really helpful tips and hppefully i will work on it.
thank you

anyone ? other tips ? pleasee…
