Honestly i think your ACT is pretty low, especially the math section, considering you are on the math team and on one of the best high schools in the country. In my opinion, since I assume that your native language is spanish, having a lot of spanish awards isn’t exactly impressive. You will probably get into most schools you apply as long as they are not the top 20 in the country. Those admissions are highly competitive

I disagree. Although he has spanish awards, it’s evident through his involvement in other activities and essay contests that he is an active member of society that’s been chosen for a lot of honorary programs.

Although your ACT may be a bit low and as pascalprime said, the top 20 schools are a crapshoot, this definitely doesn’t rule out the chance of getting in to those schools (especially considering your ethnic background which is actually a reinforcement for admissions deans).

Thanks your input guys!! :)

Everything looks good for top schools except the ACT score. It really should be 32+ I would recommend studying your heart out for it and retaking in June or the fall. If you get that up you should have a reasonable shot anywhere.

Or maybe try the sat?

Alwaysleah: Thanks!! I know that my ACT score is really low, but I am going to STUDY really hard this summer to bring it up. I am also going to try the SAT. Thanks for your feedback :)

Just to help you out, I have minority friends that have been accepted to excellent schools with sub-par test scores. A friend of mine was accepted to W&M with an SAT of 1100 out of 1600 (instate) another friend of mine was accepted to Duke with an SAT sub 2100 so the minority status with a 4.0 is enough to definitely make college admissions overlook some lacking areas, especially if you write as well as your credentials say

samir634: Thank you for the encouragement. That really does mean A LOT to me. My friend who got into Emory had like a 3.8, 28 ACT, but had excellent writing skills so I think she got in because of that. So I will definitely work really hard on my essays! Thanks again! :)
