Chance me! (HYPSM)

I know it’s unrealistic, but here it goes.

Major: Biomedical Engineering
Hispanic male, only one year in the US.
$100k a year family income
Basically learnt how to speak and write properly in the US (I did not have good english teachers back in my country)
SAT: 1400 (700 math, 700 r&w)
GPA: 3.8 (unweighted) 4.5 (weighted)

Classes taken last semester of sophomore year:
AICE General Papers A (B on the exam)
World History Honors A (school did not let me take APWorld)
AICE Spanish Lang A (A with merit in speaking)
Chem I honors A (my teacher was an elementary teacher, no idea how she got the job)
Pre-calc honors A
Principles of Engineering A (I literally had the best PLTW teacher in th country/8 out of 9 in exam which gives me college credit for the class)
Intensive Reading A (Because I came from a non-english speaking country)
Even though I was “new” that year, I received the principal’s award, an award given to the “best” in the class (my class is formed by 560 students)

Classes taken junior year (with possible grades):
AP US History A/A
AICE Sociology A/A
AP Chemistry (B or A)/A
AICE math A/A
No fifth (later explained)
AICE Global Perspectives A/A
AICE Marine Science A/A

I will do early admission at FAU on my senior year since I will finish my HS credits by the end of this year. Hope to graduate with Associate Degree and High School Degree. I already took dual enrollment classes at a community colleges, specifically:

Speech and Communication (required): A
American Goverment: A
Macroeconomics: A
English 1101: A

EC’S (all of them are since junior year since they did not accept me before):
Math Honor Society
Social Studies Honor Society (VP)
SECME -engineering team-
QuizBowl on engineering team
Creating generators for engineering competition
Soccer team (starter)
Youth Caregivers Association
Hope to join the Google Science Fair this year, and start a Research.
Robotics team at my country
National math competition finalist at my country
Guest speaker at many conferences offered by other schools at my city

Strong recommendations letters from principal, guidance counselors and teachers. I also have a recommendation letter from people back in my country since they have known me for more than 7 years. ( or is that useless)

PD: I have strong bases in many areas not credited by my HS, such as physics, philosophy and social studies. Also, I personally know the dean at FAU engineering admissions. Thanks for your time.

@hispanicdude It will be tough for HYPSM, still you could apply to 1 or 2 max just for the heck of it. I would say most of reaches should not be HYPSM but rather some more attainable ivies or elites. Btw there are some other ivies and elites that have better bioengineering departments than Yale, Princeton and Harvard. Duke, Penn and Rice, Berkeley as some prime examples. Penn for example has arguably the best bioengineering program in the ivies. Anyway, I wouldn’t apply to more than 3-5 ivies/elites if i were you.

HYPSM are reach for everyone schools.

So are the schools listed in reply #1.

HYPSM are reaches for everyone as noted above. And your SAT score is low for these schools making it an even bigger reach. That said, I’d recommend that you put in applications to a few reach schools. But focus the rest of your attention on finding a group of match and safety schools that appear affordable and that you would be happy to attend. You need to expand your horizons and recognize that there are many wonderful schools out there where you can have a great 4 year experience and get where you want to go in life.

Thanks to all of you for answering!
