Chance Me! I dont think i have a shot....

Hi! My name is sam! This is my second senior year, bc last year i didnt get into cornell - this year i focused on softball in hope of a scholarship. here are my stats:

GPA: 3.1
SATs: cr- 480 m- 550 w- 490
ive taken 3 honors

i do sooooo much extra curriculars, and my teacher recs are amazing. obviously, im really good at softball

i seriously love cornell so much. what are my chances? be honest

LOL is this a joke or is it a serious chance thread?

seriously, they told me to do a second senior year and theyd re-evaluate. im seriously so good at softball

You'd have to have been recruited specifically for the softball team, to compensate those test scores.

But, I don't think you're being serious...

am i that bad?

your IQ is probably kinda low... that's probably why you don't even get recruited... or know what it is...

first of all, cool name. secondly, my ique is higher than yours...

cornell wants me, i know i can play with the s-ball girlz there. i just knowwww i can keep up!

Just understand that the majority of people you're competing with have at least a 2100 SAT, with outstanding SATII's (I don't often see any below the 700 level on chance threads).

For example, back in 10th grade I pulled a 2200 on the SAT (760M/750R/690W). Now, I could've taken it again this year and probably scored a very high 2300 if not a perfect score (I got a mid 230 on my PSAT just last year). But I decided it wasn't worth it, because my SAT's weren't what was going to make or break my application. But still, had my SAT been any lower, I would've taken it again, because SAT scores are a big banner that displays things about you. For example, it's much more common to see a perfect SAT score paired with a low GPA (and by low, I mean 3.3 or 3.4) than a low SAT score paired with a 4.0 GPA (UW).

Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

i have a boyfriend who wants to go to ithaca and he's not as smart as me. do you think he can get in? james? he has a 3.0 and is in all ap classes. atleast he's got looks.

uh. i understand you're cockie

I'm really not cocky... If I were cocky, I'd post a chance thread so I could brag about my resume. But that's not why I came to these forums.

All I'm trying to tell you is that Cornell is an Ivy League school and draws some very competitive applicants, and I think it's important to make sure you know what type of competition you're up against.

By all means, I wish you the best of luck with your application.

you have a 1520/2400..that basically means no shot...first...softball isnt even that important..they wont die to have you...second..according to a princeton studies, athletic recruit gives u an equivalent of 200 points handicap on the SATs...that basically bumps you up to 1720..that's still not anywhere close to the 25th percentile...

Alright, he/she/it is clearly kidding.

Nobody who can figure out how to register at CC would spell IQ in such a fashion. Lets just ignore this thread and move on.

dude excellent SATs, GPAs, and ECs. apply to all ivy leage

No. Seriously i am applying as a hotelie and I only have better test scores. I don't think that this is the way that someone with "average stats" should be treated. I believe that if you were convincing in your essay that Cornell would do great things for you, you may have a shot at getting in. Good Luck.

I really hope sports aren't THAT important to admissions.....that seems a little over the top...and unfair to many of us...

guaranteed admittance, just relax

i think you're definitely in, they should be begging you to come

athletes can really get in anywhere if a coach wants you, you only need a 1000 on your sats if your gpa is 2.0 or higher so def have a shot if your going to play softball there good luck!

Tell me you're not serious.
