Hi! I am a rising senior and really really pretty much in love with Rice. Here are my stats. If anyone could chance me, that would be fantastic. Thank you so much!
I go to a well-known private college prep school. They are pretty restrictive about what classes you can take, especially during your underclassman years, so by the end of sophomore year I'd only netted 1 AP class (but plenty of honors). Heres my class list:
9: English I (H), Precalculus (H), PE, Spanish II, Theology, Mixed Choir, World History
10: English II (H), AP Calc AB, Health, Theology, Womens Choir, Spanish III (H), Physics (H)
11: AP English Language, AP Calc BC, US History, Theology, Concert Choir, Spanish IV (H), Chemistry
Next year I will be taking: AP English Lit, Multivariable Calc, AP Comparative Gov, Theology, Chamber Choir, AP Spanish V, and Biology (H).
*Theology is just whatever theology class is required that year; I doubt theyll make much of an impact on my admission since theyre not honors or anything.
I have a 3.975 GPA unweighted (including my frosh, soph, and 1st semester of junior year)I got 3 A- in freshman year. My school does not rank.
Demographic: middle-class female. Im Indian, so I guess Im Asian.
ACT: 34 (36 E, 34 M, 36 R, 31 S)
SAT: Oct 20112180 (790 CR, 680 M, 710 W). Just took it again yesterday (June 2012) and thought I did way better, so hopefully my math score will improve.
PSAT: 223 (80 CR, 67 M, 76 W). My counselor says he would be surprised if I dont make it to NMF.
Took the AP Lang and AP BC exams in May; confident that I got 5s.

ECs:
Oh boy
9: Winner of North South Foundation Regional Vocabulary Bee, member of school Drama Club, member of school Choir, recreational tennis, recreational swimming, private voice lessons, sang with a very reputable youth choir in my state (we sing with the Oregon Symphony and Pink Martini at least a couple times a year).
Summer: Tae kwon do, competitive USTA tennis, went to a camp for gifted kids in Michigan Ive been going to for ages, volunteered at a nursing home, participated in the Relay for Life.
10: Tae kwon do, winner of my schools end-of-year sophomore awards in English and Spanish, kept singing with both my school and the youth choir, participated in Solo/Ensemble, joined Global Perspectives Club at school, participated in the Pancreatic Cancer Purplestride 2K.
Summer: Tae kwon do, receptionist at an IT firm, Emerging Leader (basically a junior counselor-in training) at my Michigan camp (there were only 5 of us out of a much larger class), went on a 2-week service trip to El Salvador through my school.
11: Tae kwon do, still in both choirs, participated in Solo/Ensemble, earned my Varsity letter in choir and went to State Choir (we didnt do well), participated in the school musical, went on the Ignatian Teach-In at Georgetown through my school, continued with Global Perspectives Club, joined my schools Ambassadors (basically welcoming/mentoring incoming freshmen), and joined a pilot program at a tennis/education center for low-income elementary school kids to teach them science. This really ballooned into something no one could have predictedwe won a grant from Pepsi for our work, weve been featured in the local newscast, local newspapers, and the school newspaper, and we are expanding our program to the local police activities league this summer.
This upcoming summer Im going to be continuing teaching science/coaching tennis/running a camp at the PAL. By the 2012-2013 school year we hope that everyone in our group is in charge of a program at their own place. Im also going to be continuing my tae kwon do (Ill get my black belt before I graduate), and hopefully getting another job. I'll be a counselor-in-training at my Michigan camp--CITs are tasked with planning all the activities and we really have a big responsibility. I'm super psyched.
So, please chance me if youve got the time. I know this ^ is pretty disorganized; I apologize. Thank you so much!
