Those won’t be included in my GPA though My school’s weird like that. Though it is the number one public school in my state :)

bump? :(((((

Hey nativegirl96,

Just a thought - maybe include discerning details in an “Additional Information” section to say that your school was particularly competitive or that you were coping with ADD?

Might clear doubts for admissions officers.

You didn’t chance me back.

No one told me whether or not he or she still thinks it’s a match even though I can’t get my GPA higher than a 3.6UW.

Correct me if im wrong, but i dont think uncle counts as legacy. It has to be a parent or a grandparent.

Have you heard of College Horizons? They help NDN students with the college seach process and application type things. I have a lot of friends who have been part of their program and say it was extremely beneficial to them.
[College Horizons](http://www.collegehorizons.org/)

You may also want to look into Questbridge, not sure if you GPA will qualify you for working with them, but you never know. [QuestBridge Home](http://www.questbridge.org/index.php)

Also, you should look at Dartmouth. They have a stong Native American program and the largest NDN population of any of the Ivies. [Native American Program at Dartmouth College](<a href=“Home | Native American Program”>Home | Native American Program)

Additionally read up on the American Indian College Fund: [American Indian College Fund | Native American Scholarships](http://www.collegefund.org/)

Your tribe may also have an education program that will be able to help you navigate the college search process. Usually you can find this info on your tribal website under education.

I know an uncle doesn’t count as a legacy. What are my chances? No one has answered the question.

BUMP please

I think you could get into Cornell, though it is a reach with someone with your GPA. If you make A’s in all of your planned coursework and show an upward trend it will be most favorable. Stress your work in your community, your SATs are good- focus on that subject test now.
What are you wanting to major in? Have you taken challenging coursework in that field?

Again, get in touch with College Horizons (I linked to it in my other post above.) They will help you with the process and it will definitely boost your chances of admission. I also think you do need to address the academic difficulty you had in your freshman year, preferably in a supplemental essay/short answer section. Talk to your guidance counselor at school, they may have materials to help your with writing a section like this.

Thanks… any other opinions?

I second what 2redhares has said- check out College Horizons and Dartmouth. Also Check with your tribe to see if they have any college assistance programs.

Thanks! I hope I have a chance at HYPS.
