CC Members,
I am in need of some words of wisdom from the College Confidential community. I am looking to major in economics and/or business. I was hoping that you guys could offer suggestions on the best schools that I could get into for ECONOMICS based on my stats. It would be especially great if you guys could offer suggestions in terms of ideal reach/match/safety schools that have the best possible ECONOMICS departments. Thanks in advance.

So what top schools can i get into for ECON? thanks in advance for your input.

come on people. I'm not bound for community college am I?

It might be a reach, but I suggest applying to the University of Chicago. It's the best school for economics in the country and it doesn't weigh test scores that heavily.

Be sure to write really creative essays.

thanks yoshukiu, UChicago has been at the top of my list for a while now, and I plan on applying. More chances?

bump bump bump.......

ahh come on
ive got no chance at all?

and im going to say that you would not "own" me in tennis

i don't know too much about econ so i can't really help you
and im still a little sad to find i have "no chance"
i guess your right, but none? 0? (could you say why besides my inability to get above a 650 on the writing)

ehh i hope to play this hypothetical tennis match against you some time

I was kidding with the absolutely no chance thing.
As to that hypothetical tennis match, I usually have Chuck Norris play for me. Nobody ever comes to my matches unfortunately because nobody wants to watch something that short and brutal.

Any more chancings? Please, I could really use some help.

come on guys, almost 200 views and inly one real response. chances please!

The Irish part, joke or not, makes me think maybe Notre Dame would be a fit for you. They have a good tennis team too, I think.

thanks for the input, crazymom. Although, being a lifelong Wolverine fan, I would have to overcome some serious bias to justify going to Notre Dame. Haha.

Other chances? I really could use the help!

Im gonna keep on bumping this up until I get some responses.........

bumping this up the board. Somebody please respond!!!!!!

Have you considered any English colleges? LSE, Cambridge, King's College? LSE, for instance, is like one of the best in the world for economics, with less than 10% chance of getting it. And when life presents a challenge, take your shot - yeah thats from a Tequilla ad

oh hell, btw, Cambridge application deadline was 15th October, too late for that, I guess

I appreciate your optimism chlee, but I don't think I would have stood a chance at Cambridge anyway.

Do you (or anyone else) have suggestions for top ECON colleges in the U S that I should take a shot at?

If you're a wolverines fan, go for UMich, Ross b-school is very well respected. Additionally: Cornell (even though it's insanely hard...almost as much as Wharton I guess, but it's not that well known yet), JHU is actually pretty good for economics, definitely try for Duke. I say you have a great shot at Ross and it's in the top 5 so you can't complain. UVA's b-school is also very good (and cheaper than the average I think).

thanks prospectiveMD, I'll look into those options. I'm also more than willing to consider smaller LACs that are the best for ECON because most of themare Division III for athletics and I could probably be recruited. Any opinions there, anybody?

Thanks to those who have replied so far.

continuing to bump this thread...................
