These are for the whole campus. Different divisions or majors may have different levels selectivity (usually, engineering and computer science majors are more selective; business may also be more selective).
CPP would be a Match. SLO is a slight Reach with an admitted SLO GPA (9-11th grades with the 8 semester cap) of 4.00-4.25. SDSU would be a Match/High Match and SJSU a Match.
The UC admit data posted is not available for the majority of the Cal states.
SJSU uses an impaction index and posts the major thresholds for 2021 so you calculate her chances.
SDSU had around a 35% acceptance rate for Marketing in 2020 but no data for 2021.
What is your local CSU, which could be her safety school?
Cal state Fullerton and Cal state Long Beach would be good target schools but not safeties. Sonoma, San Francisco State and East Bay would be good safety options.
@Gumbymom, for SDSU is there any way to really gauge acceptance chances? Any idea what the admissions process is with TB? If the 2020 stats are the only real indicator, can you share where I could find it broken out by major?
Can go upto 50k per year. Any schools you recommend adding to her list? She prefers being closer to west coast though she is applying few which are al over the map.
Cal Poly enrollment projections for this year’s class of 2025:
Business Administration
FTF (First Time Freshman) Target: 548
FTF Apps: 6,868
Communication Studies:
FTF Target: 97
FTF Apps: 830
If one assumes a yield of roughly 33%, then you multiply target by 3 and divide by the # of apps, you get a rough idea of acceptance %:
So, Communication Studies would have roughly a 35% acceptance rate and Business Admin would have about 23%.
The BIG caveat is yield. The yield is likely much different between Communication Studies in CLA (College of Liberal Arts) than the OCOB (Orfalea College of Business). If it were me, then I’d assume the yield is much higher for OCOB than CLA, making Business Admin much more difficult acceptance rate, than above, using a higher than the 33% yield I assumed.
