Hi, I'm a international student from China/Hongkong. I came to NY last year for high school, and I'm currently in my senior year at a very small private school.

My GPA from my Junior year here in NY : 91.6 unweighted honor roll (top 5%)
I was doing quite well back in China, top 10% in a very large class.
No AP last year since I was new to the US...and I'm only taking 2 APs (Cal & Physics) right now. I was supposed to take 3, but one of AP class didn't get enough students this year at school (ok, I was the only one in my school took the exam for AP Statistics), so they cancelled the AP Statistics class T_T, that's how small my school is...

My 1st attempt at SAT (with very very little preparations) in June:
1790
r:490 (ok, i know this is too low, I sucked, but I'm working on it)
m:730
w:570

Will be taking SAT again in a week, currently working very hard on it, and managed to pump the reading and writing up to around 600. Math is easy for me (yes, I'm the stereotypical asian that does well on Math), I only scored 730 on the test in june, because I made a very stupid mistake now looking back at the test.
So right now base on the SAT practices I've done lately, I'm thinking I can probably get the SAT up to 1900-2000. around 600 for both reading and writing, and hopefully 800 on the math. I'm also taking 3 SAT subject tests in physics, math and US history. I'm expecting high scores on math and physics, and something around 600-650 on US history. I mean come on, I only started to learn about the history of US since last year...T_T give me the credit for taking up the challenge...

I didn't get to do many extracurricular activities since my school is so small and doesn't offer many. So here's my extracurricular activities:
school soccer team
math league (how stereotypical, my god, bear with me)
currently doing a fundraising for a walk for fighting breast cancer, will get around 30-50 hours of community service. (and no one in school so far I've come in contact to has shown any interest in participating or doing any community service at all, not to mention donations...omg T_T FML)

work experience:
I'm interning at a startup fashion company in nyc, doing mostly bookkeeping stuff (oh god, yes, a chinese bookkeeper...)
I'll be working as a production assistant for a student film in 2 weeks.
I worked at a factory assembly line in Shanghai during summer vacay when I was 14. (it was hell-ish, but I get to understand the poor workers in China)

I'm just starting on my essay, and it will be a little bit about my life...being born in hongkong, moved to shanghai with my parents when I was 8, I have an older sister that has been living in NYC for 10 years, so I decide to come to NY as a student when I was 16...and my concerns about the human rights issues and poverty in China, and I wanna learn about different cultures, literatures, philosophies, films and everything that NY has to offer, and hopefully one day bring the knowledge back to China and help eliminate inequalities in China....

The college I wanna go to the most is columbia, but it seems kind of impossible for me right now T_T. But I also really like NYU :), and I know this is a very good school as well, and more importantly I wanna stay in NY. will pay full tuition. Can Anyone chance me please? thank you so much!!!
