EVERY POST/CHANCE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! And I'll try and chance you back! :D

**********EDIT***********
Will get instate tuition for both UMD-CP and UTAustin.

Woops forgot to name the schools I’m applying to:
UPenn
Rice
Cornell
Johns Hopkins
UT Austin
UMD College Park

You probably fit the profile for the most competitive people at all of these schools. If you increase your SAT in October/November, I would give you an excellent shot at all of these schools (but you probably have a really good shot already). Although, UPenn and Cornell are reaches for almost everyone, and it is hard to predict who gets into these places.

Rice -75%
Cornell -70%
UPenn-60%
Hopkins-60%
UTAustin-80%

Don’t know much about UMD-CP though…

^Above poster knows nothing…

Excellent grades and rank, but your ECs and test scores are weak.

Penn and Hopkins (if you are applying for BME) are both significant reaches, with Cornell and Hopkins (Arts / Sciences) being reaches, and the rest are high matches.

I understand that my EC/Volunteer activities are mediocre. However, I’m relying on my research papers and recommendation from the professor to help me stand out from the other applicants; especially since i worked with graduate students and have 500+ hrs in the lab and in the fields.
EDIT****
What I’m saying is, does my chances increases when having this in mind?

Attaching published research papers and capitalizing on your lab experience would be a very good decision, but remember that rec letters will never make or break an application. After all, what else can they say aside from “so-and-so student was great”.

Ha ha. roboteer may be one of the few chancers worse than I am. UPenn at 60% and Cornell at 70%??? Maybe with 2400/36 and a national SIEMENS award. Sorry if I seem demeaning, just giving you an honest estimate. In other words, I concur with billabongboy. Again. Good to see the lab work, by the way.

Ehh…I’ve only taken the SAT once (end of sophomore year…lol…lazy…). I plan to retake in October and atleast score 2250+ (based on practice tests). Again, with this in mind, What are my chances?

More chances please? Bump

Your ECs on’t do much until you have competitive scores.

Sure chances Zhong Chou!!!
Heheeee…

you are a good match at all of these schools chance me back and have a safety http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1033113-chance-me-ill-chance-you-back.html
