Your profile seems pretty good, it’s at a similar level to what mine was when I applied 3 years back.
For interviews, see if you can get some practice done, preferably with someone with whom you’re not completely comfortable like a teacher. Don’t worry too much though—AOs know that it’s a scary time and that you might be awkward.
Also, you mention being on your school newspaper’s editorial board and having won writing awards, so your essays shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
I’m a junior at Lawrenceville, by the way, so if you’d like to know anything about the school message me or just ask here
You should apply to Deerfield. When you do apply, ask to connect somehow with the swim coach and also the water polo coach. They have strong teams. The AO’s will be interested in all of your activities.
IMHO — They like kids who have intention of getting involved in the community in a variety of ways.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, please do your homework about the school BEFORE you visit or have the interview. AO’s and alumni interviewers like you to know at least SOMETHING about the school’s history before you meet. Knowing something about the school’s history will also help you find some more reasons about why you LOVE the school so much.
Ironically, so many faculty members do not know about their own school’s history. Make it a point, however, that you do! Your school tour will also be more interesting if you have done your homework. “Gee! Why is your school mascot a door?”
