Hey everyone, new member to the forums, figured I'd jump into the whole chancing thing, and maybe pick up some advice along the way!

Basic Info<< -White male, AZ -Poor (in every sense of the word) public school, AZ is 48th in edu, my school is 230th/270 or something. -70% native american enrollment in my school, making me in the minority at school, as well as in the community. (Not that that's a big deal to me, but may be noteworthy on apps?) -Planning to major in anthropology -Current unweighted GPA - 3.6 -Composite ACT: 31 (36 in reading, 34 in english, 26 in science and math, writing 9 :/)

By the time I graduate...<< -Honors English 9 -Honors English 10 -AP Lang/Comp -- got a 5 on the test -AP Lit Comp -4 years of Spanish (last year counts as dual enrollment) -Honors Economics -AP US Constitution

EC's<< -2 years of Jazz Band -3 years Spanish Club -1 year of Tech Crew for school theater -1 year of marching band -1 year of winter drumline, played with HS ensemble while still in junior high -Played guitar in 2 school musicals -Played paid jazz gig with school band director at a restaurant, 3 hour set. -Worked during my sophomore year at a restaurant, ~40hrs/2 weeks -Independent, accelerated work in history classes, did a few assignments that I created. -Outside of school, I play guitar, and have done so for 5 or 6 years now.

Bonus Info<< -I am a very strong writer due to years and years of reading. After all, what else am I supposed to do in such an intellectually empty place? -I have 2 recommendations in the bag from teachers, (english and history) and another one from a counselor.

Schools!<< U Mich, Ann Arbor U Chicago UC Berkeley Harvard U of Arizona (safety) CU Boulder (safety)

All the schools on the list were chosen because they have strong anthropology departments (Why would I even bother with Harvard otherwise? It's a fantastic school, but I don't think I stand much of a chance at admittance there anyway.) Chances/any advice on making my app shine? I'll return the favor :)
