Son is a HS senior and fell in love with Rowan. He would like to go for Civil Engineering.
His GPA is 3.51
His Sat CR is 640 and Math is 720 - combined is 1360

What is his chances of getting in?

He has already applied for rolling decision- when should he hear back?

For merit based scholarships-they gave him a booklet that lists the "Rowan University Scholars Program", with this listing of sat scores & merit based scholarships-are those scholarship amounts pretty accurate? We know that we do not qualify for financial help and are counting on scholarships.

Thanks for any info

What does the booklet say?? Is it online for us to see? Does it indicate that the scholarships are assured?

I believe the scores listed are the minimum standards to be considered. The actual reward may give to some one who has higher scores. Its not UAB, where anyone above that standard will get automatic scholarship.

Regarding your son, he will be “considered” the scholarships if he is over the published numbers, but that is not a sure thing.

I think your son is highly qualified for Rowan; I don’t know about the scholarship.

I’d say admission chances are good, especially on the math score. But I haven’t seen the other applications.

I have found that the booklet numbers are accurate. Bear in mind though that tuition has been rising a bit each year, and housing costs have risen more dramatically. Rowan is in a growth spurt, and housing demand is exceeding supply.

The best news is that Rowan engineering grads are doing well. My son, a CEE grad, graduated in 2013, which means he entered at the pit of the economy. Fortunately, his SATs and GPA qualified him for many colleges and top of the grid in scholarship $ at Rowan. He had a job lined up before graduation. 100% of his classmates had a job in their field or grad school.

He loves his job and the projects he’s working on. His time is spent on design and field work. Has worked with grads from other top engineering schools and has never felt less prepared than others.

Good luck! Hope your son experiences what mine has. Rowan is a place to do, not just spectate.

Sat fantastic
I think he will definitely get in
