Chance Me Northeastern ED2 (NU Bound Guaranteed Transfer)

Chance me Northeastern NU Bound 1st Choice ED2

3.5 UW gpa (test optional)
9 APs 6 honors
Ranked 150/570
Asian Male

Extenuating Circumstances: Missed one month of school due to COVID policy during junior year and had to make up 40 assessments when I got back (gpa dip but I had been at a 3.9 UW before the year had started)

Extracurriculars:

  1. Founded and run a digital marketing agency doing social media management and running ads for ecom businesses (making $10k pm pure profit)
  2. Founded a podcast ranked #1 teenage business podcast globally, ranked in several countries talking about self improvement, scaling online businesses, and all things entrepreneurship. Talk about marketing agency tips/topics in pod so they work together
  3. Upwork Freelancer - content creation, account management, graphic design, video editing, etc
  4. Key Club State President
  5. co-founded an app to prevent procrastination (releasing this month)
  6. co-founder/VP of Membership of Entrepreneurship Club at my school (11th); Executive VP (12th)
  7. Sales Internship at tech startup (interned directly under CEO)
  8. Social Media Production and Management Strategy Intern at tech startup in LA
  9. VP of Research at local DECA chapter
  10. content writing/sales rep for a local marketing agency for 1 year before starting my own agency

As far as I can find, NU Bound students are accepted from the applicants for Northeastern. It is not clear what determines whether a student is accepted to NU Bound versus directly to NU. It is also not clear how many are accepted to NU Bound, though the number “1,000” is thrown about. There are a couple other programs as well. Based on the very rough numbers given, it would seem that the average chances of being admitted to NU OR one of these programs is in the 20%-30% range.

However, the problem is that your GPA will hurt you. The mid 50% GPA range for admitted students this year is 4.2-4.5 Weighted. I do not know what your weighted GPA is, but of it’s substantially lower than 4.2, it would be a challenge for you to be accepted.

I’m sorry about you missing school, but could you clarify why you in particular missed a month of school because of the school’s COVID policy?

In any case, if NU is you top choice school, and your parents can afford it if you are accepted, than go for it. However, make sure that you also have colleges to which your chances of admission are higher than those for NU.

Good luck!

I’m reading this scrolling CC instead of calling my insurance company. :joy:

Put me on the list for the app as well!

Ah, now I get which app you’re all referring to :grinning:

I definitely need it. My kid too.
