Chance me? (Not an average CC user)

To CC's standards i'm an average student although i'd consider myself above average.

I will begin my senior year of high school in a few days and I really need some help figuring out my safeties, matches and reaches. I've taken pretty much all honors/enriched courses throughout high school. My senior course load is pretty rigorous and I will graduate with 4 APs and 1 college course. I go to an OK public high school in Long Island, NY. I rank in the 6-10% in a class of about 350.

My Stats:
94 weighted GPA (My school only does weighted)
SAT (first time) 660 CR, 580 Math, 620 Writing. 1240/1860
I'm retaking in the fall with hopes of 2000 +. I'll also be taking the U.S. History and Literature subject tests.

EC's:
Italian Club (secretary), Italian Honor Society, National Honor Society and I wrote for the school newspaper. In addition, I play the guitar outside of school. I've had a job for over 6 months and spent almost my entire summer working.

I plan on either double majoring in English and Journalism or majoring in English and minoring in Journalism. I would LIKE to go to a school near or in a major city but there are a few schools that are exceptions. Here is my list so far:

Boston University
Ithaca College
Fordham University
CUNY Hunter
Northeastern University
Depaul University
SUNY New Paltz
Loyola University Chicago
Syracuse University
SUNY Buffalo
Hofstra University

This list is by no means final and I do plan to cut it down to about 6-8. So, what are my chances at these schools? Which ones are my safeties, matches and reaches?

Suggestions of schools not on this list are welcome.
Thanks so much!

If you can raise your SAT score to where you are predicting, all of the schools that you listed will be matches and safeties.

Yup if you get a 2000 on your SAT you will get into almost all of those schools. =)

Northeastern and Boston are definitely your two toughest on the list. But your GPA is great and so is your rank so I’m pretty positive you’ll get in both, if you do bring up your SAT. Best of luck!

Thanks guys. Yea, I figured Boston and Northeastern are my two reaches but Fordham probably is as well right? Aside from those, are the rest matches? And which can be considered safeties. I’m so lost with all this. Thanks again everyone.
