I know this is a wee-bit different than a normal, college-chance me, but the UC-COSMOS summer program only has a 39% acceptence rate and 4.1+ GPA average so hear me out:
I really want to do UCI COSMOS Cluster 3: Tissue and Tumor Biology and Mathematical/Computational Modeling. It includes a four week stay at UCI and two courses (not sure how difficult they are). Here are my stats:
(Future) Intended Majors: (Biochemistry and/or Bioinformatics) + Premed
PSAT/MNSQT: 1150 (550 EBRW, 600 Math) – it’s really bad I don’t want to report it
W: 4.29
UW: 3.97
College Classes: AP Euro, AP CSA, Business 101
Awards: (None lol)
Extracurriculars: 5 years programming experience (Python, Java, Web, C++), 12.5 hours community service, local museum volunteer, Piano 1 year, QuizBowl 1 year, my city’s disciplinary committee 6 months, Model UN 1 month, VEX Robotics programmer 1 month, Japanese JLPT N5 (most basic level)
Essays: I will probably have a particularly strong one. I was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer when I was 8 years old and I still have dormant tumors. It caused massive nerve damage on my leg so I walk with a limp. I’ll say that I want to cure cancer or something in my essay, as it is relevant for my cluster. I am afraid of not getting letters of rec because I recently switched schools!
