Chance me please??? Aiming for top schools!!!

Please chance me! Top choices are: Duke, UPenn, Stanford, Georgia Tech
Most likely applying engineering

WGPA: 4.62
Rank: approximately 13/790 - I go to a very large school, prob around 2500 kids if not more
11 AP Classes by junior years end, 16 by the end of senior year.

SAT: 1560
ACT: 35
Math II Subject Test: 790
Haven’t had the chance to take another subject test due to COVID

ECs:
-coaching kids for sports
-some small roles in schools clubs such as key club
-approx. 200 volunteering hours
-captain of school scioly team (for two years - junior and senior)
-job at local ice cream store since summer 2019, getting promoted to a “shift manager” type position

  • many years playing an uncommon sport

Awards/Honors:
-a couple regional scioly awards & a couple state awards (a few firsts)
-regional, state, and district awards for my sport
-college board awards for ap scores

I am likely EDing Duke, that being said, I am an NC resident which means my chances are higher for that bc they have some policy/advantage for NC kids

let me know if there is any more info that will help

What’s the job at the ice cream store like? That’s lowkey something I’ve wanted to try since my sister brought home free tubs of ice cream years ago but the shop in my new town doesn’t really jump for high school students for whatever reason…

Anyway, if either your essays or LORs are flaming hot, I’d say you’ve got a decent shot at Duke ED. Next is GT, which is probably a low reach, then UPenn & Stanford would be your higher reaches. Good luck!

Thanks for your response!

You should do it! Free ice cream  This store in my hometown is known for only hiring high schoolers because “community service” or whatever for them, but you should def try if you can! It’s and arm workout and calorie gainer all in one but still fun lol!

Great stats, great ECs, but these schools are a reach for everybody (I’d say ED Duke might be a low reach). I would say just focus on your college essays and get some good recommendations.

Best of luck!
