<p>hi i was just wondering if anyone could give me my chances on getting accepted to Columbia. i applied to SEAS </p>

<p>Stats</p>

<p>SAT reasoning: math 710 CR 760 W 700
Math II SAT: 760
Bio Sat: 760
Chem SAT: 720</p>

<p>i've taken all honors/rigorous coursework all four years of high school and have gotten straight A's every year. </p>

<p>GPA: unweighted 4.0 Weighted 4.8/5.3 (weird system...)</p>

<p>Rank: 2/400 public school yet very competitive amongst honors students</p>

<p>Ethnicity: Half greek, half chinese wrote a lot about the rarity of my ethnicity and how it has been a huge part of my life and upbringing</p>

<p>Senior Year coursework
AP Physics
AP Calc
Spanish 4 honors
AP English
AP Bio II
Honors Archaeology
Honors Anthropology</p>

<p>as of mid year, straight A's in all classes</p>

<p>extracurriculars:
NHS (chapter vice president)
National ocean sciences bowl.. our team placed 3rd in the nation in 2009
math team
morning choir
freshman mentors
varsity tennis
greek orthodox youth of america (organizes many fundraising events/community serivice)
Greek folk dancing in a local troupe (been dancing for 10+ years)
volunteering at hospital (200+ hours and awards won for dedication)
student council (been on since 9th grade)
world language honors society
soccer team (one year)</p>

<p>(may sound like i spread myself thin, but i truly am a dedicated member to each of these activities)</p>

<p>teacher and counselor recs were okay, probably borderline generic </p>

<p>your numbers are fine. a 4.8?? Wow! your EC’s are a little questionable though. do you have leadership roles in them besides NHS? you did say you weren’t spreading yourself too thin so i assume you showed this in your application. solid rec’s would boost your chances. your ethnicity and upbringings seem very intriguing, probably your best chance at admission. i hope you wrote about this in your essay. i think you have a decent shot as anyone. good luck!</p>

<p>thanks so much! and yes I agree, I think my ethnicity will be somewhat of a selling point and I made sure to write about it and emphasize it. and yes, I was able to elaborate on my roles in my activities. it might sound like a lot, but I work best when I have a lot to do! lol anyways thanks again</p>

<p>Kelloggss… I think you say the exact comment to evrybody. Due to the rarity of an 800score, a 750 is considered just about equal to an 800. Even 700s are really good.</p>
