Rice: High Match-Low Reach
WashU: "

Thanks for your help, wumanizer!

Harvard: high reach
Yale: high reach
Princeton: high reach
MIT: high reach
Stanford: high reach
Notre Dame: mid match
University of Chicago: mid reach
Northwestern: low reach / high match
Caltech: high reach
U of Illinois: safety
Purdue University: safety
Marquette University: safety

You’re fit academically for all of those schools, it’s just you need to have something that sticks out about you.

All the Ivies, MIT, Stanford, etc, are all reaches. The rest are safeties.

Chance me back!

You have incredible stats, you just never know with the super elite schools.
Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Caltech: Low reach- You’ll probably get into at least 1
UChicago- High match/low reach
Northwestern-High match
Notre Dame- Low match/match
Others are safeties.
Good luck!

Thanks a ton sjh9524, Radbg74, and Ravens! Would my chances at Carnegie Mellon University be similar to my chances at Notre Dame?

It’s definitely worth it to put an application in to HYPSM schools with those stats. Those colleges are reaches for everyone but I think you have as good a shot as any.
Harvard: high reach
Yale: high reach
Princeton: high reach
MIT: high reach
Stanford: high reach
Notre Dame: match
UChicago: mid/high reach
Northwestern: low reach
Caltech: high reach
U Illinois: safety
Purdue: safety
Marquette: safety

Thanks dmart! I appreciate your response. Would you happen to know about Carnegie Mellon or Cornell CAS?

With your stats, you’re clearly at least competitive at all of these schools. By their very nature, the majority of places you listed are high reaches for everyone, but at this point, you’ve done everything you can to secure your spot at one of them. And then some of the ones you listed are easily low matches/safeties (U Illinois, Purdue, Marquette).

As for Rice, you stand a REALLY strong chances (high match/low reach) if you can make yourself stand out enough individually. I’m from Houston and rumor has it that Rice is making some serious efforts to put themselves on the level of Ivy Leagues, which includes accepting kids with ACTs and ranks likes yours so that their statistics can reflect like Harvard’s. They sent my friend fee waivers because of his high SAT II scores, but he assured me they probably only did it so that they could reject him and make their pool look that much more competitive.

Don’t sweat it, though. You’ll get into some fabulous universities and be incredibly successful if you play your cards right.

Thanks so much Zamiota! I really appreciate your input. Unfortunately I was really sick the past few weeks so I’m scrambling to get all my apps in on time. I’ve had to cut a few schools but your input along with everyone else has made me confident I’ve made the right decision in choosing where to apply :)

I mainly agree with Thebeatlesoftoday except maybe UChicago low-mid reach depending on how your essays are, but your EC’s are pretty diverse so that’s good. And also Caltech mid-high reach just because your standardized test scores are pretty up there.

Thanks zdeminador! All my applications are in. Now comes the waiting period…

Hi everyone! I thought I would let everyone know where I got in. I know that hearing results always helped me when I was searching for colleges and determining chances. I ended up applying to Marquette, U of I, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, and MIT. They ended up feeling like the best fits for me. Anyways, I was rejected by MIT, but accepted everywhere else with presidential scholarship at Marquette, full tuition at U of I (top 30 applicants), Science and Humanities Scholar (around 50 each year) at Carnegie Mellon (waiting on scholarships), invitation to Reilly (top 1%) at Notre Dame, and regular acceptance at Northwestern.

Thank you all so much for your help! I also hope this helps anyone trying to figure out their chances for college. I know that my results in no way would reflect those of anyone else’s, but I always thought it was helpful when I saw results also, if anyone is applying for Notre Dame and has strong stats, apply early action for scholarship consideration. I learned a little too late that the top scholarships are only available through early action. Best of luck to anyone applying this year!

@collegebound465 Congratulations on your acceptances. All I can say is that I live in Pittsburgh and getting into CMU for Computer Science (even as a minor) is a great accomplishment. Thank you for the information about ND EA scholarships. I will probable need financial aid. Could you perhaps chance me?

Thanks Protein123! I’m glad to know that it helped. I’d be glad to! Best of luck with applications.

@collegebound465 Have you decided where you will attend? You should choose ND so we can be friends.

I have not yet! I am in the process of visiting every one right now, and I am having a very difficult time narrowing it down. Would you have any input?
