I’d love some more opinions please!
more help the better. thanks!

I think needs was a little too generous. Grant it your SAT scores a very good but that wont make up for a 3.4 Gpa trust me that is the same GPA i have. You also have to consider that if money is an issue OOS public’s arent going to give you alot of aid unless you are a super highly qualified student. Grant it up will probably get accepted to most of the schools on your list. But unless you can pay full OOS tuition you are better off instate or privates if you are not upper middle class ($100k+ income). Im just letting you know this because it is a hard reality that I have spent alot of time looking at. I am a NC resident and UNC is going to be my first choice this coming year. They can only have at most 18% out of state due to state law. Once you take away athletes and alumni that number decreases a lot. I am very interested in Georiga Tech and UMD and feel that I would get accepted, but since my stats arent way above the 75 percentile my chances of getting any amount of aid to even put a dent in OOS tuition are slim. Grant it only the college can tell you how much aid you will get once you apply, but this is just from my research and experiences. Think about it like this when you think of OOS public. “why would the college give me the aid when if could pay for 3 in state students?” Public colleges first priority are instate residents. Hope this was a help to you. But this is way different for private schools and they would more than likely be cheaper than an OOS public depending on your parents income.

sjbd94, thanks for your input,I really appreciate it. Yeah I knew UNC was a big stretch but I am thinking I’ll just give it a shot. I do come from a upper-middle class family though.

also-I have legacy at Case Western, if that means anything.
do you think you could give me a breakdown of individual school chances? that would be awesome.

Cornell University (reach) - hard to tell, u have a relatively low GPA with only 1 AP after the completion of junior year. Also, (this is not racism) but an asian with a low gpa will work against you. But u have a high sat, sat2s, and u are a merit finalist. I see people with low gpas getting in to cornell, so you might get in. Not to mention you have a good rank.
UMichigan (low reach) - see cornell for justisfication
Univeristy of illinois-UC (not sure)
Georgia Tech (high match/low reach)
UC schools (UCLA, Berkeley, San Diego) (not sure)
Maryland (accepted) - low match/safety
Drexel (accepted) - low match/safety
Uconn (accepted) - super safety safety
Pennstate (accepted) - safety
Pittsburgh (accepted) - safety
Case Western Reserve (not sure)
NYU (low reach) i think u will get in though
Emory (low reach)
Lehigh (accepted) - perfect match
Notre Dame (low reach)
UNC Chapel Hill (not sure)
UChicago (low reach)

No im not saying UNC is a stretch its just not as easy as it looks when you are OOS. I honestly am not sure what you chances would be only the school will know. Admissions boards are really random, haha but if you want me to give it a look I will. I dont know all the details of you family and income etc, but considering you are upper middle class from NJ which is an expensive place to live already chances of getting a sufficient amount of aid at an OOS public are slim, but still try, you never know.
Cornell University-reach
UMichigan- high match low reach
Univeristy of illinois-UC -match
Georgia Tech match
UC schools (UCLA, Berkeley, San Diego) - good for SD and UCLA,Berkeley might be a reach
Maryland-match
Drexel-match
Uconn-dont know enough
Pennstate-not sure but i would assume you would be okay
Pittsburgh- This is an OOS public that gives great aid and based on your SAT scores I think you should try this one for sure
Case Western Reserve-idk check the school to see if alumni makes a difference
NYU-i think you would be okay
Emory-low reach
Lehigh-idk
Notre Dame-low reach
UNC Chapel Hill-If you get accepted UNC will do its best to make it work
UChicago-reach
What it really comes down to is if a school is willing to look past you gpa and see all the other good things you have dont. The problem is with most big schools it is strictly stat based so they might never see your EC’s. But like i said only the school can accept or deny you so just go for it. Also, give them something that will make them look past ur GPA. Idk what it would be, but maybe like a stellar essay or something like that depending on the school. That is my goal when i start applying this fall.

Thanks CSMath and sjbd again-that info/chances really helped haha.

Since these boards are going nuts right now-could anyone else please chance me? It would be greatly appreciated :D
