I am senior, who is going to apply to universities this summer. I moved here from India when I was in 9th grade.
My GPA is around 3.5.
SAT score is 1600.
ACT score is 24/ ..writing score is 8/12
I play guitar, exceptionally good at art, really good at badminton.
APUSH- got a 3 on it
Psychology- got a 3 on it
I have some volunteer hours at Texas Instruments and some at Montessori school.
I live in texas and I know it's gonna be really expensive to live in Michigan and all. My mom is a teacher at a montessori school and my dad ditched my mom when I was in India like 3 years old. My mom has a really low wage to take care of herself and me. So, is there a possibility of me getting a grant or scholarship to pay all my tuitions?

My interests : Michigan State University, University of Houston, Texas A&M, University of Austin
Also, I can speak four languages fluently ( English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu)

And honestly with that rank… I highly doubt it. Unless you had like perfect SAT scores and some really amazing EC’s or something like that. I know people that were 12% in Plano and didn’t get in to UT (they got CAP’d)

1600/2400 or 1600/1600? There is a big difference. Being only in the top 50% will make it VERY tough to get into UT and not easy for A&M either. I don’t know about MSU. UH seems about right. Obviously if by 1600 you mean a perfect score, your chances for the other 3 schools are slightly better.

Unless you were really gifted and applied to the fine arts school, you’re not getting into UT. Long shot at A&M, reach at MSU, and great chances at UH.

I might recommend going to CCCC for a year, pulling a 4.0 doing general education coursework like English and Government, for at least 30 credits. Then transfer to UT the next year. If done properly, you won’t really have lost any time, since all your credits can transfer.

i would recommend UH, unless u get a superhigh SAT score.
top 50% ranking cannot really get you into UT or A&M, i dont know about michigan, colleges dont really look at what kind of school you are from, they look at the ranking more.

just go to your local community college and pass all your core classes with A’s and B’s to the point where you get your gpa like above 3.5, that should be good enough and it’s much easier to do it that way
