Chance me please for Dartmouth:

I am an International freshman applicant.
Major: Mathematics

Applying for Early Decision

Top 1% in my class (12th)

Intended Major: Computer Science

Class Rank: 1 (12th)

9: 3.5
10: 3.2
11: 3.6

TOEFL: 650

Unweighted 4.0 GPA: 3.7
- Our school is quite strict
- Grade of A from all Math and Science courses (12th)
- Grade of C from Literature

Weighted GPA: Yes
- First Ranking Award

Extracurricular Activities / Awards
- Two scientific abstracts
- Multiple Recommendations from Professors, Teachers, Work Experience
- International Programming Competitions Award
- National Scholars
- etc...

I’m assuming you didn’t take SAT or ACT yet. If I’m not mistaken…

you should do SAT or ACT. Try aiming for 2100+ for SAT. Not sure about ACT.

I’m not sure about whether colleges accept people with no SAT/ACT…I heard occasionally they do, but just to be safe you should take it.

Thank you. Please assume my SAT would be 2100 or higher.
Do you see there any chances?

Is your intended major Mathematics or Computer Science?

What do you like? For computer science, maybe you could design a game or something Show that you worked hard to strive for your passion, and you are unique. Except for your 10th year GPA, everything looks good enough.

For major, you could do Math+Comp Sci. though, it makes sense.

My major was Mathematics in High School. But it would be Computer Science at Dartmouth.

@Skyrior: You are so smart. Thank you for your message!

As you found, I am interested in Computational Science and Algorithms (since I have been very successful in this regard.)

Dartmouth loves students who:
- Have good stats- GPA and SAT/ACT. Your GPA is good,
Work on getting 2250+ SAT, and you’re solid!

Have done something unique. Your ECs are good, but don’t stand out as someone they would have to have at their schools. But applying ED should cut you some slack!

Chance back?

@roxy481 Thank you for your suggestions.
Would u plz tell me about “Have done something unique”

I am working under supervision of a professor and I’m doing an unique research.
Does Dartmouth consider researches, papers, extra recommendations,…?
