I'd advise you to retake the SAT or take the ACT instead. Good ECs, though, very well rounded: sports, music, community service, etc. Maybe take another SAT subject test.

sak09- one of the representative from jhu came to my school and explained that they still use 1600 scale instead of 2400. and they do not look at SAT II, and if they are bad they will not be counted against you. the representative is the applicant reviewer for NY idunno about other states.

krnfella896:
I believe you have misinterpreted what the NY Admissions representative stated about how standardized tests factor in the way the Hopkins Admissions committee evaluates applicants.

First, we do not ignore the writing section of the SAT. Yes we still talk about SAT scores on the traditional 1600 scale (CR + M) but in no way does that mean we are not reviewing the Writing section. And if you look at our Fast Facts page, you will see our averages include all three sections (Hopkins Undergraduate Admissions :: Fast Facts) and our SAT Total is on the 2400 scale.

Second, there are no minimum requirements for SAT scores. We post our middle 50th percentiles, but all applicants with all ranges of test scores will be reviewed. There is no magic number one must obtain and there are no cut-offs.

Third, though SAT II subject exams are not required, that does not mean they do matter. When included with one's application, which is recommended, they are reviewed, they do matter, and they can help or hurt one's application.

i remember talking to the NY representative about sending SAT scores. if you have one score you do not want to send but college board score procress automatically let you send all the test scores you taken, i remember him saying something like they will understand and will not hurt you. However, i can be wrong and thank you for the respond. I have already sent everything so, what done cannot be undone and hope for the best!
