@southernhope @mmmmmmmmm Thanks for your helpful reply and chances. It looks like I have a lot of reaches and a couple of matches, do you guys have any safeties to recommend?

I think Alabama gives free tuition for any one with a 1400+ CR/M SAT, if thats the case then apply to there and you’ll get in for sure.

@mmmmmmmmm sadly I am international so I am not sure if that is applicable. how about BU or Chapel Hill?

Chapel Hill is a state school so it’ll be hard, BU you have slightly better chances but with a 30% acceptance rate I’m not sure.

@mmmmmmmmm thanks for your hasty response. How about SMU or Penn state?

The University of Alabama scholarship deadline has passed on Dec 15.

DavidTaleb, some posters here seem determined to keep you from applying to US schools, and there’s a lot of this competitive discouragement on CC. Tune out the haters and give it your best shot. Also, if your school is as difficult as you say, hopefully the better colleges are familiar with it. If previous students from your school have successfully gotten in to places like Pomona and the ivies, you can be sure the admissions people know your school. If your schools in new on their radar, make sure your recommenders tell them about it. Also, don’t worry about ranking. None of the top prep schools here rank, so the colleges have their ways of divining where you stand. Good luck!
