some quesitons-
if it is reach for me to get into business program, which faculty should i apply for? (thinking of transferring in 2nd year)

i know that specific faculties are really competitive to get in for every college, should i apply for arts or something and then transfer? (in general, for some of the other universities i'm considering: nyu, ut austin, u of washington, lehigh, umich, usc, CMU)

thank you so much guys :)
now, any cogent comments?

Some points:

SAT score is within usual middle 50% range for business and you do not need ACT.

SAT IIs are not used by UIUC for admission.

Neither are recommendations.

IB is considered favorably so do not be overly concerned for not having AP.

Not being from Illinois is also not a negative (UIUC uses same criteria and levels to admit both residents and non)

Class rank is low (UIUC does not redo any weighing of grades because it relies instead on rank, but also considers difficulty of courses taken), definitely making UIUC a reach but not out-of-the-box. Business does full-file review to make decisions and your essays are important. Nevertheless, be aware that UIUC business accepts less than 50% of those who apply (it has the lowest acceptance rate of the colleges).

Applying LAS at UIUC would give you a higher chance of admission but you should not assume you can easily transfer to the business college later; it is the most picky of the colleges in accepting requested transfers -- a number succeed but one should not assume that will occur going in.

wow thank you so much, i really appreciate your detailed comment!

just two more questions,

can i apply to both LAS, business?

how are my ECs? and does uiuc put lots of emphasis on ECs?

I don't think you can apply to both, be sure to check on their website though.

You don't really have anything you did for all 3 years of your high school career, but I don't think it will give you a problem for admissions. CMU, NYU, UMich are going to be tough for you though.
Good luck!

UIUC application rule now is that if you apply to a major such as in business, you are asked on app if you also want to be considered for LAS undecided and, if you answer yes and then are rejected by business, you get consideration for admission to LAS. ECs are considered in the business full file review but they are of lesser importance than other factors.
