Okay thanx Venkat

i think you have a GREAT chance of getting in. your ECs are really impressive and shows initiative and leadership. And yeah, I think getting a 5 on the AP Calc BC test definitely helps.

thanx lavender. I haven't gotten the 5 yet, but my teacher predicts i will. We have done several practice tests, and I have been able to get 5s on them. Hopefully, UPenn will see that I am taking AP Calc BC and that I am surviving with a B/A average.

no problem, are you getting your decisions on the 29th? good luck! i have my fingers crossed!

yeah...good luck to you too ::crosses fingers::

i am an african american too, and i have the same problem as you do. i have 1720 SAT, CR 450 M 620 W 650, i took 10 APS and Calc BC during my Junior year, and i am wondering if i can get into princeton

I guess we can only be hopefull now sopndefa. I think taking the 10 APS helps a lot because it shows that you are challenging yourself to take college level courses. Best of luck to both of us :-D

yeah, i really hope that i will get in princeton because besides low SATs, i think that i have the basic requirements that princeton wants. which other schools did you apply to smat

I think that if you are an excellent candidate that will show your university that although you may not have stellar SAT scores, you are in fact smart enough and capable enough to handle a tough courseload. I am hoping that is what UPenn will see in my application. I hope you do get into Princeton. So, when you find out let me know ;-)

Ummm....I applied to:

Out of State:
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)
NYU (stern)
CMU
BU
Lehigh--accepted

In State:
University of Miami--accepted [finalist for full tuition ronald hammond scholarship :-)]
FIU--accepted
USF--accepted
Miami Dade Honors College

I'm either going to go to UPenn, or I'm just gonna stay close to home and go to UM. So I'm rooting for UPenn!!! By the way, what others schools did you apply to?

Enjoy cornell, state schooler

sopndefa, I don't want to be discouraging but not too many people at Princeton have 450 SAT scores on any section. This is as about as close to automatic rejection as you can get 'cause it's so far below what they usually accept. Being URM will help but generally to the tune of maybe 100 pts. /section below their usual range (which is in the 700+ range). Good luck 'cause your gonna need it.

agreed.

Percy, how old are you? I swear you have the wisdom of a 40 year old who's gone through the college process 20 times. I mean that in the most complimentary way, of course.

More Updates:

Miami Dade Honors College*-------Waiting*
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)-------Waiting
NYU (stern)-------Waiting
CMU (Tepper)-------Accepted
BU*-------Accepted*
Lehigh*-------Accepted*
University of Miami*-------Accepted (Awarded full tuition ronald hammond scholarship)*
FIU*-------Accepted*
USF*-------Accepted*

Percy you are so right. Being a URM means he might be able to slide by with a 650-700 considering Princeton's average is about a 730 but not a 450. Applying to a school like Princeton with a 450 in itself is dumb. Also if you can't even pull off a 1800 on the SAT's will you really be able to handle the work at a school with Princeton's caliber.

Hey guys.......

Just a little update:

I got my decision today. Although I wasn't accepted, I was waitlisted to Wharton. I'm not upset because considering the many people who applied, I am glad to at least not be completely shut out. So now I have to continue to play the waiting game.

Congrats on your acceptances to some fine institutions Smartbrotha and Good Luck in regards to Stern and Wharton (waitlist).

thanx milki
